Re: Race to 2025 playoffs
I said it to someone the other day, he's a good QB with the team around him, but he's not carrying a team like an elite QB. When you think of that photo of him, Tua and Jones (@ Alabama), you could say the same about all 3.

Re: Race to 2025 playoffs
Final 3 weeks of the season. We should get clarity after this weekend.
AFC They have 9 teams contending for 7 spots. That might remain the same because the Ravens can still win the North because they still have a road game left with Steelers. Colts still have a home game with Jaguars and road game with Texans. Maybe grandpa Rivers can make some magic??? NFC The NFC has 10 teams competing for 7 spots. I expect the Boys to drop off after this week. Panthers has both games with Buccaneers for the division title left. Lions finish with road game vs Vikings and Bears. Can they knock out Bears or Packers? Should be a fun conclusion to the season. |

Re: Race to 2025 playoffs
In the nfc, 5 teams clinched a playoff spot.
Green Bay and Detroit battling for a playoff spot. Lions can only clinch a wild card but Packers could win division if they win out and Bears lose out. Also, Bucs and Panthers battling for south. Only way either can make playoffs. In the afc, only 2 teams clinched. Really, the race is whether Colts can keep Texans out of playoffs. Other battle is North title between Steelers and Ravens. Only way in for these two; winning the Notth. |

Re: Race to 2025 playoffs
>>>>The Colts’ Monday night loss to the 49ers is the Bills’ gain. And the Jaguars’. And the Chargers’.
All three teams have officially clinched playoff berths, as a result of the 49ers beating Indianapolis, 48-27. The Broncos and Patriots also have clinched, nailing down five of the seven AFC berths. The remaining spots will go to the AFC North champions (Steelers or Ravens) or the third wild-card position (Colts or Texans). In the NFC, five teams also have clinched: Seahawks, Eagles, Rams, Bears, and 49ers. The final spots will go to the AFC South champion (Buccaneers or Panthers) and the final wild-card team (Packers or Lions). Of the 10 that have qualified, five were’nt playoff teams in 2024. The field of new playoff teams will be as high as seven, if the Colts and Panthers make it. Six, if only one of them does.<<<<< |

Re: Race to 2025 playoffs
Personally I think the Colts situation almost holds up a mirror to our own. They have lost numerous key starters to injury, particularly their QB and CB room. I'm not saying AP and the coaching staff get a free pass (especially Whitt), but it shows the big impact injuries can have. The 49ers have also had big injury problems, but they have had enough depth to overcome them. There's a lesson there for AP; get this roster young again else it'll be rinse and repeat. There's no shame in copying your mentors (Lynch) strategies if they work.

Re: Race to 2025 playoffs
This weekend definitely provided clarity.
In the AFC, 5 out 7 teams have clinched playoff spots. The only battles left are: 1. Division Titles, Playoff seeding, Home Field 2. Whether Steelers or Ravens win North 3. Whether Texans or Colts get that last spot Noone has clinched a division title yet in the AFC and all 4 divisions are wide open there. In the NFC, 5 out of 7 teams have clinched playoff spots. The only battles left are: 1. 3 of the 4 Division Titles, Playoff seeding, Home Field 2. Whether Panthers or Buccaneers win South 3. Whether Packers or Lions get that last spot Only the Eagles have a clinched a division, wide open in other divisions. So, plenty of meaningful games to close the final 2 weeks of the season. |

Re: Race to 2025 playoffs
Key games?
Texans @ Chargers - Potentially must win for both to have a hope of division. Chargers @ Broncos - could well determine both division winner and #1 seed at the same time. Eagles @ Bills - Bills must win for any hope of the division (unlikely with Pats soft schedule). Favour Bills here but they're far from invincible at home & Eagles want seeding. Both Panthers last games are must wins but Seattle have 49ers breathing down their necks and Buccs likely beat the Phins; last game will likely be all or nothing. Bears @ 49ers could be a real doozy. At this poi t I'd favour teh 49ers, not least with HFA, but... I'd just like to see us beat teh Eagles in the last game, however unlikely, and spoil their seeding.

Re: Race to 2025 playoffs
With the Lions losing, Packers clinch a playoff spot. That 7th spot is the winner of the NFC South between Panthers and Bucs.

Re: Race to 2025 playoffs
Houston beating the Chargers made the Texans the 6th afc team to clinch a playoff spot and also allowed Broncos to win AFC West.
Since Packers clinched a spot when Lions lost, they weren’t really motivated today. Packers losing; allowed Bears to win NFC North. So the last spots come down Panthers/Bucs for NFC South and Ravens/Steelers for AFC North. Steelers can win North today, if they beat Browns. |
