Prediction: Draft Position

2rd round - OG. The redskins aren't going to take a chance on a 2nd round wide receiver unless there is a magical player there that all the other teams missed (doubtful). This is a much needed position so I can see the skins getting one with their first pick.

3nd round - DT. I suppose they could take a DE here but I think Williams is very happy with what he has.

5th round - DB. All is not well in the CB department as we have seen this past season. A DB pick makes sense here.

6th round - No quality players here. We can only hope for diamonds in the rough and this is where I see the Skins taking a LB and a WR and hope for the best.

7th round - Players in this round should really be classified as un-drafted free agents as few gems ever exist among a vast collection of scrubs. I see the Skins taking an undersized defensive end.

Re: Draft Prediction

I think they will draft CB, OL, DL, then best available.

We really were think at CB this year and with the potential for Walt Harris to be shown the door for cap reasons, this will be our top priority.

OL next because the loss of Brown, and the worthlessness of Raymer.

DL because of lack of DT depth. I liked the play of Wynn and Daniels at the end of the season. With Clemons healthy we have a solid 3rd down rush end, and I think if Lavar stays you will see him in there some on 3rd.

No Linebackers because McCune and Keasey will be coming along well enough for depth. I also wouldnt be surprised to see us keep our second and trade up or down a lot with our later picks. It seems like we have a pretty deep group of players either on IR or the practice squad. Not to mention we will as always fill our most pressing need with free agent signings.

Re: Draft Prediction

2nd OG (spencer, who can also play OT or DT),
3rd/4th (inc either a comp or a ramsey trade)
-TE (klop/day),
-DE (mcclover/lawson, and have wynn move inside or cut him and get rocky bernard/triplet depending on prices).

Then the skins could be up mcphearson (4.25 CB) in the 5th (or trade up with a 6th to make sure and get him).. B Johnson (OLB, 6'5" 4.48) may also fall into the 5th as well.

whoever in the 6th (

and D Quillen (6'6" 4.5 WR) in the 7th
with sam koch (undrafted) at P.

Re: Draft Prediction

I'd honestly be all for us resigning Evans. He's home-grown (basically) and everyone seems to think he'll be a starter on another team. He had a great pass rush from what I could tell.

Re: Draft Prediction

If there is a good DE on the board they take him. the o-line can either be addressed later in the draft, or FA. The WR sounds like it will be addressed in FA unless someone drops with out reason to them in the second round, which is unlikely. they need young talent for DE spot, daniels is 33, wynn 32 and Evans is FA. They have no one else w/ NFL experience on the roster at that position.

OL generally cannot be addressed in FA (drafted OL are CHEAP, otherwise you're paying a starter salary (3mill+) for a bench warmer) and late drafted OL tend to be crap (see 2 years ago). DE would be much easier to address in FA (26/27 year olds) though i'd pick up kampman and get mcclover or lawson as well, since both are extremely fast and could help immediately.

Re: Draft Prediction

Yeah, maybe it was the fact we cut and resigned him at least a dozen different times during the year.

i think mccune got some time in late against dallas and ny. he will have a bigger role in 06. as it is now he's already a solid special teamer

Re: Draft Prediction

How about Jeremy Bloom w/ a late round pick? The guy is small but is an athelete w/ speed. He is expected to be a late round pick. He could be used as a return specialist/4th or 5th receiver. If he falls to the later round he may be worth the gamble.

Re: Draft Prediction

2nd round- Stanley McClover DE Auburn......he would be a great pick up, a little undersized but young and very fast. Alot of SEC lineman said he was the best lineman they faced this year. He could be Chris Clemons with better strength until he works his way into the starting lineup.

3rd/4th round- Will Blackmon CB Boston College or Anwar Phillips CB PSU....both very athletic and would give us some depth at CB, could be good nickle backs

Late rounds.....Jahri Evans OG Bloomsburg University.....this man is a monster, plays at my school (D-II) which lead the country in rushing this year. He has amazing footwork and is very mobile for a 320+ guy. Could play guard or OT which he played in college. He is going to be a steal trust me. The only reason he didn't go to a major D-1 college is because of an injury his senior year of high school.
