Adam Archuleta to the Skins?

This could all be moot considering the CBA situation, but thought I'd share this. Especially since it's the only place I've seen this and am actually a bit surprised by the interest, if true.

"That might be easier said than done. Archuleta should command fairly large money in a free agent market where big money will be a relative term depending on the collective bargaining agreement. Washington has showed plenty of interest in Archuleta already and there is some other teams hoping to make a play for him."

Re: Adam Archuleta to the Skins?

I can't see it happening. Assuming, generously IMO, that we got $9 million from the restructured deals and can save another $10 million by cutting guys like Noble, Harris, Ramsey, Hall, Tupa, Thrash, etc. we still need another $3 million to get under the cap and have room to sign draft picks. I have no clue where we would get the other money. The 30% rule makes it even more likely that it would be impossible to sign a guy of Archuleta's caliber. Finally, teams like Green Bay and Arizona would likely outbid us.

But, who knows, I could be totally wrong. That's just my 2 cents.

we have a lot of money in filler... 69 people currently making 235-460k each. frost and brown combine is almost a million by themselves.

Yeah, I know. But based on our (both yours and mine) estimates of the salary cap situation over the past few days, I think we can both agree that it would be very tough to sign someone like Archuleta. I say that knowing that I don't know precisely how much the restructured contracts saved us.

In any event, I don't really care for Archuleta. The guys is a force in stopping the run but has been suspect in coverage. Given that Williams likes versatile players, I'm not sure why we'd go after Archuleta. But then again, maybe Williams IS interested in Archuleta and knows that his coverage skills are better than I am giving him credit for.

if you ditch one, the next one starts to count. so if you have to do like the titans and have under 53 players on your roster, thats a lot of cuts. brown at 460k is definately in the top 52 though. most of the 310k guys are too.

Re: Adam Archuleta to the Skins?

Archuleta is extremely overated. The guy is a great athelete we saw him in the combine and all that but he is not good in coverage. I'm very skeptical about the skins going after him. I hope its not true.

you must be crazy dude, archuleta is a ball hawk out there id love for this guy to be in burgundy and gold. his coverage WAS suspect his 1st two yrs in the nfl but has gotten much better. not only that but i have the utmost respect for this guy this guy came out of high school with zero scholorship offers not a damn cent. he was a walk on at arizona and flourished since then he became a first round draft pick. i guess i have a biased opinion b/c i use his training video & methods for my training "freak of nature." but ya i dont know too much about the cap situation so it could jst be a part of my fantasy

Re: Adam Archuleta to the Skins?

from what i've heard, he looked promising in his early years in the league, but in the last two, his coverage has dropped off quite a bit. Cowboys fans compared him to roy williams, a big hitter but not good in coverage.

Him and Sean Taylor in the same backfield would put fear into any teams heart. Then if we made the trade for Abraham possibly keep Lavar.., thats a nasty Defense.
