Re: skins skin jags: Thoughts?
Personally I liked the early flea-flicker call.
If anything it gets the defense thinking, granted the result wasn't ideal but still, the idea behind it was sound. I think it's a good sign too that the offense is getting more and more comfortable and Saunders is using more and more of that vaunted 700 page playbook. We didn't see many trick plays last season until late during our stretch run, and then we saw one almost every week. |

Again, I like trick plays, but that specific down and distance (2nd and 7) is not a good one for that play. It's a narrow criticism of the tactics, not the strategy. It's good that the Redskins run it because I don't think Gibbs EVER ran it after Theismann broke his leg on it, during the first tenure.

Re: skins skin jags: Thoughts?
i cant believe how good our offense is. we have alot of studs and if brunell needs rest to have that zip on the ball every game, then so be it

Re: skins skin jags: Thoughts?
I was really impressed by the YAC ability of both offenses. Jacksonville has a good, young passing game, and will probably be in the SB one of the next two seasons. Reggie Williams WAS a bust receiver, but not anymore. He and Matt Jones will be quite a tandem. Santana Moss is a golden god. We are a far better offense when Cooley is a threat in the passing game. It's night and day. When Cooley is involved, Brunell looks comfortable. Did anyone else see on the play in OT that got called back before Moss' TD, Brunell ad-libed and motioned for Cooley to turn his back and run. That was a sweet play all around. Except for the penalty. Any questions about Brunell's arm were answered Sunday. Still, Gibbs SHOULD have gone for the first down on 4th and inches before the field goal. We all knew he wouldn't do it, but I knew that the game was going to OT right after Hall made the kick.
The defense didnt play as bad as the stat sheet would have you think. Unless you know where to look. The DLine had pressure on Leftwich all day. There were some tackling issues, but there werent any coverage breakdowns. It just seemed like Jacksonville always had the perfect play called. Espically on that TD pass to Jones drew. Arch was gonna kill Leftwich, and he hit the one guy who was open. TD. Give the offensive coaching staff at JAX some props. |
