Punting Situation

I know we brought in the long tenured vet Tom Tupa, but Stemke has looked very good this preseason. what do you guys think about this? could we practice squad him?

kimrin has looked good too, but he squibs balls ... i think we might, stemke has been nailing 60 yarders and tupa is getting old.

What would it cost us in cap to keep Stemke and lose Tupa?

not much, but hall wants tupa to hold his balls (hmm... that came out wrong), and tupa can fake and throw the ball on field goal attempts...

Tupa moves into our #5QB spot behind Rod Gardner!

i believe that tupa was actually drafted as a QB in the 3rd round, so he does have the potential to be a slid QB

Actually Tupa started some games for the Jets in the mid 90s i believe. He was decent QB, sorta like one of the Huard brothers if I recall. Definitely is a better punter than qb obviously but he is probably the best throwing punter since ole Sammy!

As much as I hate to say it, Danny White in Dallas wasn't too shabby. Until McNabb equaled him last year, he was the only quarterback to lose the NFC championship game three years in a row!

Tupa's passing stats

http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1422

13 games started, 12 TDs, 25 INTs

For a sad, yet funny comparison

Heath Shuler's passing stats:

http://www.pro-football-reference.co...s/ShulHe00.htm

29 games (don't know many started), 15 TDs, 33 INTs

Technically though, wasn't Gary Hogeboom the QB the day we beat them to go to SB XVII

I always thought Neil Lomax was really underrated but his Cardinals stunk
