Re: Stallworth to the Pats!
ESPN.com - NFL - Pats continue spending spree, get WR Stallworth
30mill, 6 year, 12mill guaranteed. he's a legit #1, but he's also made of tin. that's probably a bit much to pay for him, but at least brady has actual NFL starting WRs this year... |

Re: Stallworth to the Pats!
Ya, clearly the Patriots are going to be the favorite to win the superbowl this year. Furthermore, don't forget that they have two first round picks.

Re: Stallworth to the Pats!
Well at least that is one less threat in the NFC East. The downside is the Skins have to travel to New England this year to play against him.

Re: Stallworth to the Pats!
All this fee agency spending by the Pat's . Suprised but nice to see others doing it for a change. It will be nice not to have to scramble to get under the cap next year.

Re: Stallworth to the Pats!
oh, we'll be scrambling to get under next year. that's what all those massive restructures do. they just delay the hit, but they don't eliminate it.

Re: Stallworth to the Pats!
Pats are the best run team in the NFL. 2 1st rounders, Stallworth, AD and Welker added as FA's. I think they are the favorties in the AFC.

Re: Stallworth to the Pats!
He's OK.....long as he can put down the CRACK pipe long enough to catch the ball? They can have him!

Re: Stallworth to the Pats!
Everyone in the NFL, the Danny & Joe especially, will be watching the pats to see how this free agency binge pans out for them. Of course the Warpath is already on the case!
It's a serious break from their conservative moves of the past. I don't think Stallworth is way overpaid though, by recent standards his signing seems about right. They may be getting him at his prime if he can stay healthy. I have a feeling that the Pats will struggle this year, just a hunch. Their roster has experienced the most turnover in the last 2 years that Bellicheck has seen. To get them 10+ wins will be a lot harder for the coaching staff than meets the eye, they've never dealt w/this much new blood & $. |

Re: Stallworth to the Pats!
i'd take that bet and go with the over. looks like 10-12 wins easily.
with no WRs to speak of brady was still putting up decent numbers. they just got two starters which are both HUGE upgrades, and a great blocking TE in brady (to go with receiving TE ben watson). on defense they just got another super smart/versatile LB in AD, they still have two draft picks in the first round, and no one's really left the team. |

Re: Stallworth to the Pats!
Stallworth is a good receiver, but this move isn't going to put the Patriots over the top. Let's not forget that Stallworth was a non-factor in New Orleans, and he averaged less than four catches per game for the Eagles. He's not that great.
An upgrade for the Pats, because their WR corps was a WR corpse.
