Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
There were some plot elements that you just had to completely overlook common sense/rationality to go along with. Still, it was ok. I did not like the ending all that much, seemed thrown together...

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
I was forced to watch the movie "Enchanted" this weekend with my wife and 3 daughters. They totally enjoyed it. I on the other hand, spent 90 minutes trying to gnaw through my wrists. Sure I earned cool points from my girls, but that movie was horrible in my opinion. Way too much cheesy fairy tale type stuff in it. At least there were two good looking chicks in it. And to think I could have watched Hitman or Legend. Oh well.
On another note, my cousin won Hannah Montana tickets over the radio on Friday. She is going to take my oldest daughter. I am so excited for her, but I cannot tell her because it is a suprise. Slowly but surely my daughters are weakening my manhood shield. I am getting soft. Testosterone help me! |

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
yeah i've got 2 girls and they're young, but I'm with ya. I'm watching girly movies all the time and saying things like "booty-butt" and "go potty" even when Im not around my girls. I told my co-worker I had to tee-tee the other day and he just gave me the wrinkled eyebrows of amazement....

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Watched "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" on Saturday night, since the wife is a big Harry Potter fan. I've never read the books, but the movies are pretty good, and I'd say this one was the best thus far.
Netflix wise, we have Shooter and Wild Hogs...and of course I've been put on notice to not buy any DVDs until after Christmas...damn my wife and sister, or I'd have Superbad and the 3rd Pirates movie, and would be getting Simpsons tomorrow.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Has anyone had the chance to watch Idiocracy? Very funny movie that I think had a very limited theatre release before it went to DVD. if you have a chance and want to watch a stupidly funny movie. Fans of satire should enjoy it.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
I thought it was pretty funny. The premise is great, but it scares me a little but because I think it could come true.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Watched two movies the past week, including Christmas Day (I'm visiting my mom in Hawaii and I've gotta say that Hawaiians come out in force to watch movies on Christmas... it was packed!).
Sweeney Todd is Burton's darkest work yet... very bloody and morbidly funny. Even if you don't like musicals, it's still worth checking out. Yesterday (X-mas) i saw "Juno." It's definitely in my top 5 for this year... Ellen Page is going to be an epic actress. |

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Was finally able to watch "Superbad" last night when we got home from our Christmas celebration. Freakin' hilarious. Tonight will be The Simpsons Movie.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
I watched the 3rd Pirates movie for the first time. It was a lot better than what I thought it was going to be.
I'm hoping the new AvP will be decent. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Kite Runner is a must see. In fact, see both Charlie Wilson's War and Kite Runner. Almost prophetic given the recent events surrounding Bhutto's death.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Charlie Wilson's War was fantastic. Seriously it was great.
A movie that i can't believe no one has seen is walk hard: dewey cox. It is so f...ing funny. I read all the reviews and they weren't horrible but they weren't good. It was engaging throughout and poked fun of music from the 50s to the present. It was not your regular stupid parody movie either. It was not so over the top. It really was a fantastic movie. Looking at fan reviews, it looks like you loved it or hated it. Its hard to see someone hate it. It was a complete story. From beginning to end and the character changes with the music of the times. I think adults that grew up with the music in the 60s would appreciate it more but the humor might be for the younger crowd. I think that is where it falls apart. It is perfect for the 20 somethings out there. The music was pretty good too. This movie was a major flop and it shouldn't have been. |

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
the BSB - I was actually getting ready to say that I saw Walk Hard on Friday night...
...and I concur with everything the BSB says about it. Freakin' hilarious. And while some of the scenes are a bit over the top, most of it is just downright funny. And Jenna Fischer (Pam from The Office) is super hot in it.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
yeah she is. This is a great song from the movie. Don't watch it if you would rather watch it for the first time at the theater.
