Re: Paralyzed Patriots Stingley Dies
Very sad! He was only 26 when he was paralyzed. He never got a chance to live a normal life.

Re: Paralyzed Patriots Stingley Dies
What a sad story. 26 is way too young to lose every thing you live for. Yet he still lived for 24 more years.

It should give us who are still able to do things to re-evalute what's important, you know.

I saw that hit. I had forgotten what a tragedy that was. RIP Darryl.....
That's the side of football, I don't like to remember

Re: Paralyzed Patriots Stingley Dies
Another tragedy...My prayers will go out to all his family and loved ones.
I will always remember the hit he took from Jack Tatum that ended his career. I watced the game, but it sure does not seem like thirty years ago.

Re: Paralyzed Patriots Stingley Dies
longtime, i hear you. at the time, that hit didn't seem that bad. but Tatum was a monster before hits like that were in. would have been a regular on jacked up. god bless the Stingly family

Re: Paralyzed Patriots Stingley Dies
did anyone see the Chapelle show DVD where Charlie Murphy talks about threatening to flip Stingley's wheel chair in a restaurant for hating on his brother Eddie? It's an outtake of Charlie Murphy's true Hollywood stories. It's kind of messed up.

Quote:
Jack Tatum and Fred "The Hammer" Williamson along with Johnny Sample were the most feared hitters of that time. There were a few others, but those three come to mind mainly because of the notoriety they received. Good to see some old school here dmek.

Re: Paralyzed Patriots Stingley Dies
For those that saw the hit, how bad was it? Was it cheap?
I think I've probably seen the hit on NFL Films stuff, but I just don't recall it right now. |
