Portis is as tough as nails and he's also a character guy (in more ways the one, I might add)! I look forward to seeing him healthy again and picking up another 1500 yards. I think they could put Portis and Betts both in at the same time this season, too. They could split Betts out as a receiver if they wanted to.

Hopefully Portis will never be a 350 carry back for us again.

Betts and Portis are very similar runners in quality if carry. Portis is the guy who does the things that are often undervalued; blocking and receiving, better. You want him on the field more often, but they are relatively interchangable.

Honestly, out of the two, I think that Betts is a far superior pass catcher than Portis. Portis gets better yards AFTER the catch, but I don't remember him catching as many as Betts did even the year he was healthy.

Right you are MC. Betts caught 53 passes last year in 9 starts (although he played in all 16 games). Portis has never caught more than 40 passes in a season, and he only had 17 catches in 8 games last year before getting hurt. So for now it appears Betts is the superior receiver out of the backfield.

Considering how many times Betts fumbled at the end of last year, I'm damn happy he's second in line. Plus, I love Portis and I'd kill for his eyelashes.

I think that we should play we both running backs betts and portis just like the colts did with rhodes and addai. Those guys can do a tremendous job together!
