Re: Sean Taylor at Free Safety and LaRon Landry at Strong Safety
i don't know how anyone can say this. Daniels or Salaava could not play for any other team in the league, let alone start. Griffith is on the downside of his career. that leaves Carter as the only legitimate NFL linemen we have. and the jury is still out on him

Re: Sean Taylor at Free Safety and LaRon Landry at Strong Safety
I find it comical that the Warpath members seem to know more about our defensive backfield than Gregg Williams.
I also find it funny that with one bad year (where he had zero help), Sean Taylor has lost all of the cover skills that he demonstrated in college and years one and two of his career. This lack of perspective can be very annoying at times. |

Re: Sean Taylor at Free Safety and LaRon Landry at Strong Safety
Look, the D needs work from top to bottom--that's the sad truth. But finding a way to maximize Taylor's skills is a good idea. And if Landry can make that happen, right on.
The D line is going to have to be addressed in the future--maybe the FO is thinking one step at a time here--enough of half solutions and stop-gaps. We'll suffer some this year, and hit it next time. (Probably as we speak, the FO is trading away the future in a blockbuster deal, but a guy can dream...)

I have a hard time believing that was the deciding factor with the Landry pick. I'm wondering if we have any reason to believe that LaRon Landry can fix Sean Taylor's football instincts. I'm not even sure Sean Taylor's intincts can be fixed by anyone but Sean Taylor. Maybe we are just going to have to accept the guy for what he is/will be, a respectable player and citizen who makes highlight reel hits on a consistent basis and gets burned a lot for touchdowns and long passes. Maybe this was the deciding factor in the Landry pick? Maybe it was all about getting an impact safety for the future. Maybe GW doesn't trust Taylor as much as we think he does. Or maybe none of this was ever in consideration and we just took Landry for the exact same reason we took ST, because he has good physical skills. Well, hey, we can always draft another DB next year if this doesn't work out. (kidding people, only kidding)

Re: Sean Taylor at Free Safety and LaRon Landry at Strong Safety
Taylor gave up more than one touchdown last year. He gave up the Stephen Jackson touchdown run in overtime last year too. His play seriously regressed last year. He needs the talent around him in order to make plays.

Um, Okay?
Phone up your boy and get him to care then. Redskin Nation would knight you for your efforts.

Re: Sean Taylor at Free Safety and LaRon Landry at Strong Safety
if Taylor has a down season this year, what excuse are you going to use? because Landry is a rookie, still learning? how come people around here do not want to hold Taylor accountable for his own poor play? i like him as much as the next skins fan, but i still cant believe he made the pro bowl last year. what a joke

Given the problems w/ last year's defense, how about we hold off on the criticism and see, after this upcoming year, if it was warranted.

So maybe playing safety in the NFL is an easier position than we give it credit for, and Taylor is perfectly capable of 04/05 performance. Or maybe he's just not a good player. Three years in to his career, we have no idea, and that scares me.

Re: Sean Taylor at Free Safety and LaRon Landry at Strong Safety
The entire D was a big mess last year, look no further than that for the reason why Taylor struggled. He struggled just like the entire unit did.
