Thanks, I've been looking at the warpath since last season; don't know why I waited so long to join. I work in an office with a huge Dallas fan AND a huge NYG fan, so this should be a nice refuge for me!

Attempting to put bias aside, I think he has IT, based on what we've seen thus far. He's drawn some praise from scouts & media along the way, but never been touted as a big time qb. I even remember Peter King saying how good he looked in workouts before the draft in 05 & how surprised he was that more coaches & scouts didn't rank him higher.

Think about our recent past, can you say that you feel any better about a Skins qb since Brad Johnson?

His 7 starts last year & a couple of games at Auburn, including the sugar bowl.

If you remember his first pass was a long bomb to Loyd, who let it go right through his hands. It was symbolic of the kind of season it was for the offense, the whole team was out of sync. It took half a season to get the running game going. That said, JC did not have one game where he looked totally lost & made big mistakes. He led the team back against Philly & the g-men & although we didn't win those games, I think he showed great resolve in getting a losing team back in the fight.

Could he suck this year? Sure, but I don't see any reason to think he would. What is his major flaw? I'd say just his lack of experience. He doesn't hold the ball too long, he can make virtually every throw & his accuracy will improve. He stays in the pocket & isn't easily rattled by pressure, but he can run & is a big guy who can take a hit.

I know, I know, we're always optimistic in the offseason, but this isn't the ole ball coach & his draft pick. This is Joe Gibbs & his. He managed to get us to the playoffs w/brunell, I feel more of the same w/JC in the future.

If they were being honest with themselves, many would say that they felt this way about Ramsey (I among them). I loved what I saw of JC last year AND the buzz that seems to surround him. With Ramsey, I really liked what I saw but am not sure if there was quite the same "Wow" factor we are getting from some of the current players for JC. I think all the players liked Ramsey, thought he had a great arm, and admired his work ethic - I just don't remember quotes and compliments on his accuracy and ability to anticipate.

Hopefully, this will not be a replay of the Ramsey era - high hopes and disappointment. I see significant differences between the two - but I also see some similarities.

For the time I am simply crossing my fingers and cautiously hopeful.

If arm strength was what you looked at to guess the success of a QB, Ramsey was your man. I have always felt this is part of the equation, but greatly overrated. As we saw, Ramsey was very "statue"-esque and had no concept of a "touch" pass.

The Redskins have already talked about the fact that JC is getting the ball out quicker than last year, and I saw a better touch pass from him last year than I ever saw from Ramsey. When you throw in the fact that he called a winning play last year when his headset went out, you know something's right. Finally, if the defense plays better than last year, so that the offense doesn't have time for a three-course dinner before going back onto the playing field, JC and the offense should be able to maintain a rhythm during the games.

I think he stole this from one of my posts:

"The teams to watch in 2007 that scored less than 20 points per game last season (and missed the playoffs) are the 49ers, Cardinals, Broncos and Redskins. They all averaged in the 18- or 19-point area and should be better on offense. If they can get three or four points better, they will be right in the playoff hunt. "

I look for the Redskins to be in the 24 to 25 ppg range this season. This would make all the difference.

Also, I would point out that while the Colts were poor defensively in the reg season, they played great defense in the post.

Just saying don't get too jacked up. Ever since we brought in Marty, we have had many reasons to be jacked up, whether it was a good draft, kickass FA signings, etc. I am just saying take one game at a time sort of approach. It gets frustrating starting off really geared up only to have your air let out of your tires before midseason. The preseason publications have never been friendly to us in recent years, but they have been pretty close to reality in terms of the predicted outcome. The Washington Post forum was always a trip, you always had about a dozen "homer" always saying 12-4, or 11-5 and a SB automatically. I was like that for a bit, but this is ridiculous. On paper we have a kick ass team and lately we have been in a weakend division and we still can't sweep the Cowboys or Giants, let alone get a win.

Heres a real short nfl.com artical saying one of the may contributors that has keeped us from being a top tier team agian is our inconsistency at QB, and that JC might be the fix. I like to see a little presure under Jason, give him more reasons to keep up the hard work

It just means that he is under the preasure of performing in a big city like NY and has nothing to do with how he has played. This is not any compliment to JC its just saying that he is now under that same preasure as Eli was when he becames a starter in a big city.
