If Gibbs Goes, Who coaches next year?
This loss is frustrating enough to start with, but with the anti-Gibbs hate, we are just making things even worse. Honestly, if Gibbs steps down, who will his replacement be? I can't think of anyone on the spot that makes any sense, and if Gibbs goes, we need someone who can do a good job stepping in. We know how to have bad coaches, 7 years of Norv Turner, Spurrier, etc.

Does anyone know if there are any good head coaches coming out in next years draft?

I bet Snyder is thinking the same thing.

Re: If Gibbs Goes, Who coaches next year?
Al Saunders should take over and GW should stay on to coach the offense...
Even Russ Grimm would be a nice compliment for this team |

Re: If Gibbs Goes, Who coaches next year?
I don't know who I'd get to replace Gibbs, but it would be someone with somewhat same philosophies as him. The players are in place, but for whatever reason we aren't consistent. I would like that person to have some emotion, be willing to take risks, not so much run oriented but have a consistent balance between the run and the pass, not someone who's made a big name for himself somewhere else, maybe someone who's been an up and coming coordinator and now wants to try his shot at being a head coach.

Gibbs has done a great job of bringing in aggressive players; ST, CP, Moss, Randle El, Cooley, Landry, C.Rogers, JC, Fletcher, yet he doesn't make many aggressive play calls.

Or better yet, defense.

I don't know who will be available, but I bet Cowher would at least get a couple calls from Snyder if Gibbs does leave.

Re: If Gibbs Goes, Who coaches next year?
If Williams doesn't get the job, he's leaving and probably taking Blache and Grey with him. If he doesn't get the job when Gibbs leaves which I don't believe will happen until 2009, we have to start over on defense. Not to say that should decide the thing, but it has to be part of the equation.

I think Cowher is going to be the man. Remember the buzz in the preseason that he was interested in the Skins as a possible destination. Do you really think Danny boy is going to let GW or Saunders be the HC? THese guys suck!!!!!!! Danny boy will go for the sexy pick, always has, always will. Why? It sells tickets and merhandise guys!!!!!!!!!! I mean who is going to get all excited if GW is the new HC? Remember when Spurrier and then Gibbs were hired? Big commotion, BIG excitement. Nobody is going to get excited over some overpaid assistant coaches coming in, ones that have sucked as assistants for us. Cowher will get the money flowing, the excitement back, even if for just a little while like it did for Gibbs coming back. |

I personally don't see Gregg Williams or Saunders getting the job no matter how Gibbs leaves this team or when he leaves as head coach. But at any rate, I say it's all a moot point until the season is over.
