Re: Do we have anyone we can off-load for Picks.
That is funny (because it's true).

Re: Do we have anyone we can off-load for Picks.
thats not true, could it be possible that theres maybe another coach out there that sees in Brunell what Gibbs saw in him and will give up a number 1 pick for him?

Re: Do we have anyone we can off-load for Picks.
There are a couple deals that could come up near or on draft day. Just like last year w/the briggs for Rocky & #6 pick that never happened. I could see the tuna offering the #1 for our #21 + a player (actually Rocky might draw some interest if he's healing well).
The problem is that we have a rep for trading up & not trading back to get more picks. With the draft chart points that the nfl has, most teams seem to value their picks more too. At least we are at a place in the draft at #21 where some teams will trade their 2nd round pick to move up if they like a player a lot. It would be sweet to see the Skins get an extra pick or two, even if it's for the following year. |

Re: Do we have anyone we can off-load for Picks.
We could theoretically trade the following players, and at the same time get cap relief by offloading their contracts:
Shawn Springs Cornelius Griffin Marcus Washington Casey Rabach Phillip Daniels Todd Wade Pete Kendall Ladell Betts James Thrash Mike Sellers Demetric Evans Rocky McIntosh Todd Yoder Khary Campbell Every other player is either a free agent (you can't trade a guy not signed) or would cost us cap space to trade away. As I look at the list above, most of those guys are direly needed on this team (Marcus Washington, Casey Rabach, Mike Sellers, Cornelius Griffin, Rocky McIntosh) or wouldn't yield jack squat in a trade (Khary Campbell, Todd Wade, James Thrash). It's not likely we'll trade anybody away.

I think the only other name that could garner any compensation is Rocky and Sellers, but Rocky's injuries would limit what we could get for him right now and Sellers is too valuable to the Skins to consider trading. My take is I don't see the Skins trading anyone unless some team out there can be duped into taking Brandon Llyod - if we could score a coup like we did in the Adam Archuleta deal that would be great, but I don't see any team out there gunning for Llyod like the Bears Lovie Smith wanting Adam. |

Re: Do we have anyone we can off-load for Picks.
everyone's trade value is lower than their usefulness to us, so the answer is no, not really.
betts was worth a LOT more last offseason after that great second half, but now his value's back down again. The only real value we could get is for campbell, but that'd be pretty bloody stupid. meanwhile: patrick ramsey for A.O. (chi DE)... OOPS! mcintosh for lance briggs (chi LB)... oops. so, i'd say our ownership overvalues its unproven players a bit too much. |

Re: Do we have anyone we can off-load for Picks.
The simple answer is that the players who will bring you either high draft picks or multiple draft picks are exactly the ones you really don't want to trade.

Re: Do we have anyone we can off-load for Picks.
I say trading Rogers would be a smart move and free up space to get another early round CB and/ or S or signing someone like FA Asanti Samuel. Rogers has played poor, has a serious injury and in my opinion isn't as physical as he needs to be to handle #1 or #2 NFL WR's. And well every receiver in the league burns him. Repeatedly. Noone gonna trade for Brunell or Lloyd or Wade. I just hope we can keep Sellers for atleast 1-2 more seasons. He compliments our running backs very well. I miss GIbbs already...

Re: Do we have anyone we can off-load for Picks.
give us your best players for the garbage we're going to cut anyways.
roger's is good enough to be a #2 or #3, and he knows the system and the players, so we might as well keep him until we're sure we've got something better in house. |

Re: Do we have anyone we can off-load for Picks.
Like the rest of ya I don't see much trade value on our roster to acquire a nice draft pick. The possibility (outside of trading JC which would be dumb as hell) of a trade for Portis and an o-lineman (I would prefer trading JJ) could garner some value in certain scenarios. CP is an awesome back for any young qb in the league because he protects so damn well and does all kinds of things to help his qb out. And JJ is a vet lineman. I don't know how I would feel about losing Portis. I like Betts more and more so if we started to hear good things about Mason then I suppose a trade for a nice pick would be ok (no lower than 2nd round).
But... does anyone else wonder if the events of last season somehow lower the value of the guys on our roster? I'm thinking about how other organizations might be unsure of a guy who was real close to Sean but no longer wears the burgandy and gold. I sort feel like our guys are real Redskins (except for B. Lloyd) and I hope we just acquire the talent we need through the draft. |

Re: Do we have anyone we can off-load for Picks.
You mean besides CAmpbell, Cooley, Portis, Moss, Samuels, Washington and Landry?
I don't think we would get a high draft pick for any of our other players. Besides, real GMs know that you can get solid role players with low draft picks and undrafted free agents, along with a few well selected veteran free agents. They don't have to trade. There's always the option of trading down the first round pick for a second and third round pick. That was a big topic last year. I think the front office made some calls last year and found no takers. But, may as well start up the talk now! |
