Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
Fassel is the kind of guy who is great as a head coach, but terrible as a coordinator!
I don't actually believe that, but I thought I'd mention it before someone else did.

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
I am starting to think part of the reason Gibbs stepped down when he did is because he was sure Williams would be hired immediately, and that he wouldn't have done it, if he knew all this nonsense was going to take place

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
Joe was out for the new NASCAR season to be with his family and work with his son. Saw Sean die and takes nothing for granted time wise. Couldn't wait any longer. I'm mad and upset he left but I have to respect that. Takes a few weeks but now I'm over it...........but Snyder is really dragging this out.

that's not what he told me...haha...no, you're right, I just wonder how much he thought things were in place, and if he know there may be a shake up if he would have left so quickly |

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me to keep Gregg Williams in the interest of continuity and then change the offensive side of the ball. I just don't understand why Williams would change offenses.

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
Well he's a grown man with his own opinions. And maybe, in his opinion, "continuity" isn't going to help. Maybe, he wants to put his own imprint and philosophy on how he would like to run the team if he's head coach and not just follow the same pattern as his predecessor.

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
Fassel is okay with me if he can coexist with Grilliams.

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
fassel would be fine with me as a OC , for god sake he actually made kery collins a super bowl quarterback. he always did pretty well with the giants. got a good eye for talent as well. i believe he drafted shockey......i remember a few years ago before gibbs came back he was a candidate for the head coach position then

Well if we did change the O then people would have more excuses for JC next year.

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
Getting rid of Saunders means you pretty much render Todd Collins useless. He'd be a horrible QB in any system not reliant on timing, because his arm is a friggin noodle. The only reason he's successful is because he throws to spots before the WR breaks. If he's in an offense where he's got to throw during the break, or even after it, passes will get knocked down by DBs.
And if you render Collins useless, then we have no plan for backup QB. Brunell's contract is voiding, he'll be gone. If you don't have Saunders, you have no use for Collins. So then what? You have a young QB adjusting to a new OC, and a brand new backup coming in who's got to learn it as well. You have no master of the offense anywhere on your roster. It just reeks. Stick with Saunders. Changing the OC is the worst thing we can do.

But what bothers me most is what's going to happen on the defensive side of the ball. 3/4 years our defense has been very good under GW. From what I can tell those guys really play hard for Greg and they like his tough coaching style. Total bullshit if they hire Fassell over GW. Snyder and Cerrato should just hide their faces cause the backlash from the fans and media is probably going to be tough. |
