My only difference is that while I'd like to keep Saunders, if he does leave and we bring in a new OC who has a better system for Campbell I'd be happy too. I want what seems best for this team and Fassel, who could be a decent coach again, does not seem like the best coach out there.

What I don't understand is what do people have the bigger gripe about? That it's not Williams, or that it's Fassel?
Because you hear people preach "continuity" but then say well it's ok if we hire McDaniels, or Cowher, or Coach Lubbock

I don't care how many stats people post about Fassel's career, there's nothing...nothing...that blows me away about this guy. It's almost like Snyder..and I'm not a Snyder basher, by the way....is leaving Williams high and dry. |

Re: Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980
This team came together as close as one team possibly could to becoming "family". I think that should factor into the equation some. Now, I'm not laying all of this soley at Snyder's feet, but...
I mean, how Gregg Williams handled things on defense after Rogers went down, after Sean Taylor was slain, how the defense regained it's swagger should count for something. That's what I meant by how much of this has influenced Snyder's decision. Should Gregg Williams be strongly considered for the job for sentimental reasons? You're damn skippy he should! That's exactly what I'm saying. Does he deserve it, you're damn skippy! Hey, if Joe Gibbs was allowed to buy some time during his second stint, I think Gregg Williams should get somewhat similiar treatment. Not to the same extent as Gibbs maybe, but yeah, Snyder should make a heart decision here. Oh, the whole continuity thing? Yeah, I would start there too...but why do you need five good reasons to hire someone new, when the guys who will suit up on Sundays prefer the one who's already in the house? |

This is not an entirely cerebral decision, because football is not an entirely cerebral game. It's a passionate game. Though I'd note from a cerebral standpoint it makes no sense either.

Given the kind of season we had, I just think GW is in a better position to take over the leadership of this team right now. I think the cohesiveness of the staff and players is better than it has been in years. Why change that now and bring in a whole new dynamic with a new staff? |

There are so many of us here who share in your belief. I'm also of the opinion that despite both Williams, and Fassel being considered rejects, or recycles, Williams is the more appropiate choice for this particular team at this particular time. Maybe Fassel could/would be a good hire, but not at this time. This team is too close to being able to acomplish something significant to have to undergo a makeover. Joe Gibbs leaving this team unexpectedly as he did leaves the team with more unsettled problems than just hiring a new coach. With a new coach comes all types of changes, changes no one in the orginization was/is prepared for.

Re: Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980
This would be another stupid move by a broken/disfunctional franchise. For some reason the Skins feel the need to use evryone else's cast off and reject coaches insteading of bringing in a new coach and letting him prove himself. I cant imagine the results would be any worse than they have been.
