Yeah but if he doesn't get reinstated by the Commish then it essentially turns into a no deal since the Cowboys get their fourth rounder back. I kinda get the feeling the Commish is rooting for Pacman in the sense that he wants to get him back on the field but also wants to make sure he's not getting into any more trouble.

I'm waiting for the CJ bashers to say that Johnson is worst than Pac Man. LOL. Seriously though, this is going to be interesting. I do wonder if PacMan can get back in football shape after being out for a year.

Re: Breaking News: Cowboys Agree to Send 4th Rounder to Titans for Pac Man

Maybe they shouldn't start manufacturing those Pacman Cowboys jerseys just yet:

ProFootballTalk.com - Rumor Mill

MINXX SHOOTER THOUGHT PACMAN ORDERED A HIT

A reader has forwarded to us a copy of the “declaration of warrant/summons” issued on April 18 in connection with the arrest of Arvin Kenti Edwards, the man accused of opening fire outside of a Las Vegas strip club in February 2007.

The document helps to clarify recent reports regarding the nature of the $15,000 payment that Edwards thereafter pursued from Titans cornerback Pacman Jones. It seemed to be hush money, but it was characterized by Jones as money that was paid only because Edwards threatened to come after Jones and/or his family.

As it turns out, Edwards initially wanted the money because he believed that Jones had ordered a hit.

Jones made the disclosure to Las Vegas police in September 2007, roughly seven months after the shooting. He told authorities that, as he was leaving the Minxx club after the infamous “make it rain” altercation, a man approached Jones and told him that he would take care of the problem. Jones says he wasn’t sure what the man was talking about, and that Jones replied by saying, “whatever.” Moments later, Jones heard the popping of a gun and observed the same man shooting Tommy Urbanski and two others.

So, basically, the guy shot Urbanski and the other two people because he thought Jones had asked him to do it. And, surely, Edwards’ version of the events will be different than Pacman’s “whatever” remark.

Meanwhile, the report also states that a member of Pacman’s entourage previously had said that he would “f–k this motherf–ker” and that “[w]e’ll smoke his ass” in reference to one of the other persons who was shot.

Here’s our question. What did Pacman Jones say to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in April 2007 or at any other time thereafter when asked about the Las Vegas incident? Our guess is that Jones used the “I don’t know nothing” defense, which would be directly at odds with what Jones thereafter told police in Las Vegas, possibly at the urging of lawyers who feared that the authorities eventually would find the shooter, and that the shooter would claim that Pacman ordered the hit before Pacman could offer up a carefully spun version of the events.

Needless to say, the Cowboys might merely be loaning that fourth-round pick that was sent to the Titans earlier today for Jones. Because we now suspect that, one way or another, Commissioner Roger Goodell will find a way to keep Jones out of the league in 2008.

Bottom line? Jones paid a guy $15,000 for a hit, not because he ordered the hit but only because he feared that if he didn’t pay the money the guy would come after him. And, amazingly, Jones opted not to alert the authorities to the threats from the man who was admitting to these crimes.

Pacman, we suggest that you hold off on trying on that silver helmet with the star.

I'm w/Saen1 on this, sure Pacman has his issues, but he's a really good corner, could be great if he'd stay out of trouble. I don't see the boyz taking much risk here at all. The real risk is if pac gets someone else on the team in trouble. No one's ever said he was a bad teamate, just not a professional off the field.

My fear WAS that he would go to Dallas & turn his career around. Now w/word about the shooter & pac possibly paying him $15,000 to keep quiet (another smart move, boy that guy really earned his money, he didn't talk for a whole year!) I don't see it happening.

That's a mighty big if, my friend!

How can you guys be so happy about this? Im going to go on record and probably staying in the minority on this.

The cowboys took zero risk, a late round pick for a top corner...

Lets just hope he doestn get reinstated (if he doesnt they get their pick back) because we are going to need help on offense with him playing against us twice a year. Id rather he went to the Bengals and hung out with his inmates there. The guy call play, hes a great returner...

Lets just hope you all are right and he destroys that team. I think hes tryign to make a point of coming back strong and prove everyone wrong. hes been trying to come back and prove himself for a while now but they wotn let him back

I wouldn't say the cowboys took zero risk. If he does get reinstated there is no way he plays a full season without another incident. That man is a idiot. He will be back in the strip clubs the day after he is reinstated "makin it rain". He might have all the talent of a top CB in this league, but his stupidity out ways his talent. I give him 3 games this season if he is reinstated, maybe 4.

Well that just about what everyone said when they made the deal with TO. I'm sure if he gets reinstated Jones will have his contracted worded so they can dump him if he has any more issues and I would bet it will have a clause about strip clubs. Jones is not dumb and is really taking very little risk from what I have seen at this point.

I'm sure that contractually it's a low risk. But could you imagine the mass hysteria on this board if the Redskins had made this move?

A disaster of biblical proportions! Old testament! Real wrath of God type stuff! Fire and brimstone coming down from the sky! Rivers and oceans boiling! 40 years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanoes! The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together!!!

Jones is not dumb? Taking a duffel bag of money to a strip club throwin it in the air then bang the stripers head on the stage when she goes to grab it isn't a smart move. Going to a strip club the night before you meet with the commissioner of the NFL and lying to him to his face when asked about it is pretty dumb. Paying the gunman 15,000 to stay quite and not mention any of this to the authorities isn't dumb?

He's definitely not a top corner. Solid starter, but he's not one of the top 10 at his position, which is what I think of when someone says top player.

I'm w/you except for the zero risk part. They are taking on more risk than w/the avg. trade, but overall I certainly agree w/your point. The only way it really backfires for them is if he gets others in trouble or affects team morale. there were never any reports of that in Tenn., it was just pacman getting in trouble at clubs w/his homies.

So what if they lose a 4th round pick, they've drafted well in the past & can afford to gamble w/those picks. A 4th rounder for a legit man to man corner & dangerous punt returner is a bargain IF he comes back & can return to form (on field, not off).

They're obviously not worried about the pr aspect. Kind of funny, until a few years ago texas stadium was a dry stadium. Now you can buy a beer there and watch near cons on probation playing football!
