Re: Predict the Opening Day Roster

Here's a pretty good read relating to roster hopefulls.

Im honestly pulling for Jerome Mathis. I like Thrash but I dont see this team doing anything special this year, so Id rather take a chance with a guy thats young and could be a solid return man for us for years to come, then a vetren who provides a little stability. Espicailly considering its a new offense for both.

I imagine Mix making it just because of his special teams play. He always seems to be in the right place

Fox at saftey and Thrash at wr seem like hardest decisions to make for Zorn, imo.

We have the chance to be serisouly young at every position but LB, O line, cornor, and rb if we keep most our rookies/signings. Got to wonder if that will have any influence on making the final roster selection. Wernt we the oldest team last year?

Re: Predict the Opening Day Roster

QB: Campbell, Collins, Brenen
RB: Portis, Betts, Cartwright
FB: Sellers
WR: Moss, ARE, Mix, Thomas, Kelly, Thrash
TE: Cooley, Davis, Yoder
OL: Samuals, Jansen, Kendell, Rabach, Thomas, Rhinehart, Heyer, Fabini, Lorenzo Alexander, Keary Brown

DE: Wilson, Daniels, Carter, Evans, Robinson
DT: Griffin, Golston, Montgomery, Boschetti
LB: Washington, Fletcher, McIntosh, Blades, Campbell, Gatewood
CB: Springs, Smoot, Rogers, JT, Torrence
S: Landry, Doughty, Moore, Horton

K: Shiuzam
P: Brooks
LS: Albright

Practice Squad: Kyle DeVan, Westbrook, Boatman, Alonzo Dotson, Dorian Smith

Notes: Brenen will probably be on IR, not because he's not healthy but more so the team can keep him around while leaving a roster spot open for a special teamer. Moore might undergo the same fate, but if he's fully healed then I doubt the team would keep him on the sidelines.

Shannon Boatman was released because he failed his physical.

Re: Predict the Opening Day Roster

Didn't we also pick up J.Mathis the kick returner from the Texans . So unfortunately i don't see Thrash or Mix making the team. Which will be a shame , Thrash is good on special teams and Mix was ok and extremely cheap.

I've got Alexander on there. I think Brown is practice squad for this year.

Re: Predict the Opening Day Roster

QB: Campbell, Collins, Brennan
RB: Portis, Betts, Cartwright
FB: Sellers
TE: Cooley, F Davis, Yoder
WR: Moss, Randle-El, D Thomas, M Kelly, A Mix, J Thrash
OL: Samuels, Jansen, Thomas, Kendall, Rabach, Rinehart, Fabini, Heyer, L Alexander

DE: Carter, Daniels, C Wilson, D Evans, Dorian Smith
DT: Griffin, Montgomery, Golston, Boschetti
LB: Fletcher, Washington, McIntosh, Blades, K Campbell, Bryan Wilson, C Gatewood
CB: Springs, Smoot, Rogers, Tryon, L Torrence
S: Landry, Doughty, Moore, Fox

K: Suisham
P: D Brooks
LS: Red Snapper

We keep 6 WRs in lieu of a 4th RB, and Mathis is not one of the WRs. Boschetti makes it because Blache hearts him big time. Dorian Smith makes it as an up-and-coming situational pass rusher. Both Bryan Wilson and Gatewood make it as LBs for depth behind Rocky and Marcus. Frost is history.

This only works if Rinehart works out in camp as an adequate backup at C. If not, probably say goodbye to the 6th WR or one of the UDFA rookie LBs for someone who can back up Rabach.

Re: Predict the Opening Day Roster

With the draft we had, the most interesting position battle will be at wr. I think the coaches will have a hard time deciding whether to keep 6 wr's or 5. Given the WCO & the use of spread formations, plus injuries, 6 wr's might be viable. I hope so, cause I'd hate to see Thrash go.

Other than that, LB will be interesting to watch. They've got to sign some depth IMO.

I think they will pick up some lb , i guessed R.Colvin .There are still alot of free agent lb's out there and with Rocky's injury it would make sense to pick one up. With drafting Reinhart plus Heyer and Alexander coming along ,J.Fabni and T.Wade will be gone. And the practice squad will be out of the folling people -
Qb S.Hoolaback
rb M.Mason
wr A.Mix
de R.Jackson
de/lb C.Gatewood
cb B.Westbrook
s C.Horton

No Zorn liked his footwork so they're moving him to QB. In all honesty no one knows where Alexander is going to play next year. You ask five different Redskin fans and you'll get five different answers.

So far I've heard G/C/TE/DT/DE

I hope you are not trying to say the Davis is playing ahead of Cooley. Because that is not going to be the case at all.

No, just an oversight there putting Davis' name first
