Re: If You Ran the Redskins...
Cassel would be just as bad in a WCO as campbell is. The system needs to go or Campbell needs to go. heck, maybe they both need to go, but they both cant stay. thats for sure.

Re: If You Ran the Redskins...
In no particular order:
OL Drafted in the first round must start. Would like LT, move Samuels to RT Henry Ellard for WR coach. Draft DT that can contribute in third round. Re-sign Hall, Montgomery, Golston, Evans, Albright, Solve kicker/punter problems Sign free agents for depth, not starters. This is better for the cap, and we don't need starters, we need improvement from our young guys, and our injured guys to get healthy. Draft best player available at LB, DT, and OL with remaining picks. Be patient.

Re: If You Ran the Redskins...
fire vinny, give parcells a blank check.
These are the players he's assembled. 50 wins 62 losses 2 playoff first round losses top 3 in league payroll every year. I'm not sure where we can locate free agent signings/trades to see how much we've paid to people...net, net is horrible as well (esp. considering the forgone picks) Deon sanders, bruce smith, adam archuleta, marcus washington, santana moss, randel el, brandon lloyd, casey rabach, randy thomas, pete kendall, jason taylor, tj duckett, Vinny's Draft Record Since he's been GM: 2008: Leave alone - though its been a DISASTER. 2007: Landy and Blades (only 1 pick in the first four rounds). Laundry is a no brainer and blades could be serviceable but can't cover. 2006: Rocky (limp knees- got exposed as he can't stay healthy a full season), Golston (again, only 1 pick in the first 4 rounds) 2005: Rogers and Campbell (both first rounders, both good players though not great- Rogers could be shopped this summer. no 2,3 round picks) 2004: Cooley and Taylor: only 4 picks in the draft, taylor was a no brainer, cooley a VERY pleasant surprise. 2003: 3 draft picks, dockery was an excellent grab at 3rd, Jacobs was a bust in the 2nd. 2002: Ladell betts, Ramsey, Rock Cart. both betts and ramsey are capable backups, rock is a great special teams player but nothing more. 2008 - Washington Redskins Rd Sel # Player Position School 2 34 Devin Thomas WR Michigan State 2 48 Fred Davis TE USC 2 51 Malcolm Kelly WR Oklahoma 3 96 Chad Rinehart T Northern Iowa 4 124 Justin Tyron CB Arizona State 6 168 Durant Brooks P Georgia Tech 6 180 Kareem Moore DB Nicholls State 6 186 Colt Brennan QB Hawaii 7 242 Rob Jackson DE Kansas State 7 249 Chris Horton FS UCLA 2007 - Washington Redskins Rd Sel # Player Position School 1 6 LaRon Landry SS Louisiana State 5 143 Dallas Sartz LB USC 6 179 H.B. Re: If You Ran the Redskins...
Hire this guy:Larry Kirksey
DenverBroncos.com – Official Website Of The Denver Broncos He might be available since the Broncos fired Shanahan Larry Kirksey enters his second year as the wide receivers coach for the Texans. He brings over a decade of experience to coaching wide receivers. He has coached three receivers, Jerry Rice (1,549), Jimmy Smith (862) and Terrell Owens (801), that have over 800 receptions in their career. In his first year with the Texans, Kirksey oversaw a group that had three players top 700 receiving yards, making Houston one of just four teams to achieve that feat. The unit’s depth was tested when two-time Pro Bowl WR Andre Johnson missed seven games due to injury, but fellow receivers Kevin Walter and André Davis stepped up to fill the void. Walter set career highs in receptions, with 65, yards, with 800, and touchdowns, with four. His 65 catches led the team and he was second in receiving yards. Davis emerged as one of the best deep threats in the NFL, averaging nearly 18 yards per catch. Despite playing in just nine games, Johnson once again led the team in receiving yards, with 851, and touchdowns, with eight. Houston’s all-time leading receiver led all NFL receivers with an average of 94.6 yards per game. |

Re: If You Ran the Redskins...
Since Albert Haynesworth made the pro-bowl, per a clause in his contract, he cannot be franchised by the Titans (good move by his agent). ESPN is reporting he and the Titans are engaged in contract negotiations.
I fully expect the Titans to lucratively retain the cornerstone of their bad ass defense.

Re: If You Ran the Redskins...
I think Zorn did some nice things with JC this year. I don't see the need for a new QB coach.

Re: If You Ran the Redskins...
for all of the Cowher guys:
ESPN - Sources: Bill Cowher won't interview for New York Jets job "Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher, who rejected a chance to become head coach of the Browns last weekend, is not going to interview for the head coaching position of the New York Jets, according to multiple sources. Cowher, according to a source, has been contacted by the Jets. Although he is interested in the Jets job, he told the team he would not be a candidate because he would like to bring in his own personnel director. Jets owner Woody Johnson plans to keep Mike Tannenbaum as his general manager after firing Eric Mangini as head coach Monday. With Tannenbaum as the general manager, Cowher is willing to pass on the Jets opportunity, stay in broadcasting for another year and wait to return to coaching in 2010. " |
