Like I said, in the past several options have always come available, but this year I have a lot less flexibility and fewer personal contacts that are able to help...
Yeah that's a tough one then. I wish I had more ideas but I don't. Too young for a summer job, don't want them spending their time at home, can't go to work with you, don't want a summer camp, honestly idk. Short of letting them stay with a relative for the summer (which it sounds like you don't want to do because summer is the only time you really get to see them) I got nothing. GL figuring that out.

Thanks

Family always has helped, and may some this summer. Found a UMBC weekly camp that runs multiple one week sessions, and that is near my work, so it may be an option for a bulk solution, with flexibility within specific weeks for my time with them. More so worried about the 12 yo girl, cause it's kinda boring without any similar aged girl friends, and this UMBC one has a big swim portion which she loves. My hope is that I can get her into a majority of the weeks, and then figure out some other things for my 13 yo boy, who as we all know would be happy sitting in front of the PS3 for 90% of any given day!

Yeah I'd recommend the YMCA too.

How about Emerald Isle? It not as developed as the Outer Banks and its not too far of a drive.

Thanks for the earlier thoughts on camps. I found one for my daughter that she's excited about at UMBC. Still working on some other plans.

Re: Summer Vacation Plans and Stories

Next Saturday AM the wife and I head back down to Siesta Key, Florida for a week of R&R. We stay at our family's place right on Crescent Beach. It's our little slice of heaven. Got engaged there, got married there, did the 1 year anniversary last June there, and now the 2 year. It's our tranquility. Can't freaking wait.

Heading to Chi-town in a couple of weeks. Were going to a Cubs game, Shedd aquarium, Lincoln Park Zoo, Millenium Park and the John Hancock Observatory. If anyone has any suggestions for something else that three little boys might like please let me know.

Check out the Navy Pier for the kids.

Chicago is a great city, I was there last year right around this time, have fun.

You better watch out, I heard there's a rapist in there. Seriously though, have a good time. Someday I hope to visit there.

Edit: Not sure if they're into it, but there's a large model train exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry there. From what I've heard they recreated the route between Chicago and Seattle, and it's supposedly one of the largest exhibits in America.

Nice! I will check it out.

Edit: The exhibit, not the rapist...
