Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)

Sigh....let's just get right to it

Jim Zorn What's the deal here? The offense runs smoothly (for the most part) from red zone to red zone, yet it's a total mess inside the red zone. And look, I realize that guys like Thomas and Sellers didn't execute but that's still no excuses for some of his decisions in the red zone. I won't rehash them, because we all know what they are-run, run, option pass. And what part of Campbell is better out of the shotgun is so foreign? As I've mentioned I'm sure too many times, I was around the Redskins a lot during Norv's final years. And one thing that always stood out was how many players would say "Norv coaches like he doesn't trust any of us to be smart enough to run his plays" Sometimes I feel like Zorn is the same way.

Mike Sellers/Devin Thomas In this offense, their number won't be called too often. So they need to make plays when given the opportunity

Dan Snyder Do the right thing, not the popular thing. I don't know that making a coaching change right now is the answer. I don't think it is personally, what is he going to do? Make Joe Bugel the interim coach for the rest of the year. But if and when he thinks a change is needed, make that change. Don't be "patient" just to show you can be. The fans at the end of the day just want to win.

I'm just going to leave it at that today. A simple win was not going to be enough today. This next stretch of games was the opportunity for everyone (front office, coaches, players, and fans) to gain confidence in this team and this offense and get excited. Even with a win, we are off to a piss poor start.

Zorn, Zorn, Zorn

Right now he's the problem, and a big one.

I don't agree with making a change during the season, but he's clearly on the hot seat and the flames are only getting hotter.

I was so hoping I was wrong about my sentiments following last week's game, but Zorn keeps proving us naysayers right.

Red Zone playcalling was piss poor. Overall the production and playcalling was better. This must continue to improve or I agree we should be looking at our options at the end of the season.

D playcalling much better this week. Like the aggression.

Isn't Holmgren still out there as a GM or HC, maybe we keep Zorn as OC and Holmgren helps get him straight.

I know Zorn is gonna catch a lot of heat this week but Moss and Sellers flat out ruined two scoring opportunities. That shouldn't be overlooked.

The D rebounded great today. JC played well. Oline played decent. The running game was decent. Receivers dropped some touchdowns. Zorn's playcalling always got worse as we approach the red zone. First half play calling was much better than the second half playcalling. I disagreed with going for it at the goal line, that was insane.

Cooley had a great game, nice to see Kelly contributing as well. JC played very well too. There's no reason why this offense couldn't have put up 24 points today.

That would be a great idea. Buges should take over right away and I'm not kidding. Zorn just looks lost out there. If JC runs the no huddle well then keep doing it. What was the point of stopping? Also WTF was that call on 3-and goal from the 10. I mean you've got 6-4 Kelly and 6-4 Mitchell sitting on the sidelines on that play. If you're going to make that call then do it on 1st down. Not 3rd!!!! Who the fuck does he think he's fooling with that shit??????????? He should've been fired right after that call. Also the call at the end of the game...I mean everyone knew you were going to run to the left. What a dumb ass. I've had enough of this guy. He's gotta go.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Zorn (at this rate) won't be back next season. I think we need to keep him for the whole season though.. The guy shows some bright spots (like in the first quarter) and then pisses all over it (lack of redzone offense)

I wouldn't be averse to a coaching change mid-season, but for some reason I don't think the players would adjust too well to such a big change like that.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)

For me the big thing was Zorn's complete lack of trust of Campbell in the red zone. Campbell showed today that he can be effective but it was clear that JZ didn't want to throw the ball inside the 20. I mean Campbell was effective with the pass all day long today, why not trust him inside the 20. JZ is my main problem, and even though I don't think it's time for him to go I do think it's time for him to shift his philosophy and start playing aggressively, both inside and outside the 20's.

The game never should've been as close as it was today. For me the problem is clear, it is still JZ's playcalling.

Any Idiot Who Blames Jason Campbell: JC played extremely well today. If you blame him for anything, just admit that you hate him no matter what.

Like the one dude in the gameday thread.

JC could lead this team to a 50-0 win and someone would say JC was messing it up somehow.

Out on limb!? Zorn is on a very short leash. Unless the Skins go on a hell of a run and rip right into the playoffs, I think there's a good chance, very good chance of him not being here next year.
