Not a big deal, just something he needs to push through.

give him props at least for continuing to play. His greater problem is getting open and/or JC finding him when he is.

re: Kelly Playing with Hurt Thumb
Misleading thread title. He has been hurt and playing through the pain. I'm sure some ppl read this and say "oh shit, here we go again."

re: Kelly Playing with Hurt Thumb
I really wnat to play Marko some more either way. I suspect we will see some more of him this weekend as the media and fans keep pushing for him.
I suspect he may not be ready to face a starting string defender.

I played basketball through torn ligaments in my thumb...just needs some tape. Of course, now I have since had the thumb surgically repaired with 2 screws and a fused joint, but yeah, he can play through it. I do agree...get Marko on the field!

re: Kelly Playing with Hurt Thumb
If anything the title is less of a purposeful mislead, more so of an addition to Kelly's injury/history.

Re: Kelly Playing with Hurt Thumb
Thanks SS. Buster you said you played with this injury. Obviously it wasn't pro, but did it impact the ability of your hand to grab, etc.?

Re: Kelly Playing with Hurt Thumb

I had it taped up really good around the thumb and wrist so it was almost fixed, but I didn't have trouble holding onto the ball. I'm sure Kelly could probably get a special padded glove too, since it is painful, but he's a pro athlete and should have no trouble playing with it in my opinion. His training staff is worlds better too. If he needs offseason surgery, he will be ready for next year. Mine were completely torn and you can't repair ligaments like that, so they had to fuse the joint permanently with two screws. It's the middle of the 3 joints on the thumb (not the one that bends the tip or the one that's closest to your palm, the one by the web). I have no trouble with it, doesn't get in my way or anything, so he could still play even with the worst-case surgery of fusing it. Recovery time is about 3 months.
