Re: Slingin Sammy 33s - Panthers Game Review
Good breakdown SS-
Quote:
That pass bounces in the endzone not very far from where Moss was standing when he stops running the route. ![]() Quote:
The playcalling isn't giving Campbell the chance to take the reigns of the offense. But, i don't think its a trust issue issue i just think Zorn has lost his mojo as a playcaller. I think that Zorn is nervous about the OL ability to pass protect. Zorn is calling plays like we are a running team as opposed to WCO. Pass early and often run late. I could go into a whole thread on Zorn's playcalling but i digress. I think Campbell's only limitations are the OL+Playcalling. Quote:
He's getting the ball out at the top of his drop more then last year, and he's been more accurate, he going through his progressions and has a quicker release. Quote:
Maybe DBs are like RBs empty pockets+heavy heart=production Quote:
Now, despite that our passing game is more effective then our running game the playcalling has become more run focused? ![]() (I have a detailed look i can post that compares the last years Dallas game to this years Rams with a focus on 1st down playcalling. I can post it if anyone wants to see it, but the sum was that Zorn was pass heavy early and finished balanced now he's balanced and borderline run favored early) Dallas: Out of the 1st 12 1st downs 10 were passes. Rams: Of the 1st 12 1st downs 6 were runs. Quote:
He played with 1st team during the offseason and basiclly split time with Randy during the training camp and preseason, yet when the time came Zorn was hesistant to start him then benches him 2 games later? Quote:

Batiste@RT Quote:
I would rush Orakpo more often from the SAM spot and move Orakpo to DE and with Wilson at SAM. Quote:
Put the game in JC hands put him in shotgun and pass early and often. Quote:
At this point i think Zorn has his hands full with what we're already doing i doubt if he can add double TE sets and actually pass from them, although i'd love it. Quote:
I feel like a sucker i bought into Hall's homecoming story and his desire to reach his full potential. Quote:

This week the OL was definitely a problem. But Zorn's playcalling is baffling. Zorn comes from the Walsh/Holmgren tree you would think he would be scripting his first 15 plays, it sure doesn't seem that way. Quote:

Re: Slingin Sammy 33s - Panthers Game Review
Quote:
We almost never score on our 1st drives, we don't score many points in the 1st half and we run the ball like we have a power OL ![]() Yet in the second half of games the offense is forced to open up because we're trailing and there is more success. I've even heard Zorn give credit to Sherman Smith and Chris Meidt for their input in half time adjustments like the deep ball to Moss in Detroit. Quote:
I heard Zorn say on the Sports Fix that JC is going through his progression and sometimes he's going through them too fast. Quote:
The only game where he statistically played poorly we won. He only thre 23 passes against the Panthers. The Lions game would have been helped if the playcalling led to a score in the RZ. Giants game maybe we should have went to the Shotgun passing game earlier? But, you're right we must get a clear evaluation on JC; and to do this the game must be placed on Jason's shoulders. If we get a good evaluation of JC it could save us a draft pick that could be spent on the OL. I happen to think JC is more of the 6-2 guy 2-6 guy. Hail! |

You're getting so good at this, that I'm just going to nibble on scraps from now on. But seriously, reading this before going to the tape opens up a whole new world of things that I probably would have missed before. This is an invaluable resource.
And good comments 30gut.

Re: Slingin Sammy 33s - Panthers Game Review
Good Info Slinging Sammy 33
Well Zorn has said that they will move Heyer (LT) Williams (RT) and Rhinehart or Monty(RG). I thought Zorn or Vinny said Rhinehart had a shoulder injury that's why Williams played RG. Whats the truth on that Sammy if you know? As far as Mike Williams lets give him a shot we dont have many options at this point so Im pulling for the Big Guy.

Re: Slingin Sammy 33s - Panthers Game Review
Just a thought , what about running some no-huddle , let JC call some plays , or have the ability to change the play at the line of scrimmage < shotgun or under center > ??

All critical to any good offense....and we do none of these.

Re: Slingin Sammy 33s - Panthers Game Review
Here's my summary: Samuels goes down and the entire offense crumbles.
As for Heyer, I can't believe anyone is talking about him as the future of anything. Dude is garbage. Honestly, JC is going to get killed unless Heyer gets some serious help on his side. There's no way I would trust Heyer on his own. |

Re: Slingin Sammy 33s - Panthers Game Review
What's the deal with all of the single option/look passes? Does Zorn really not trust Campbell to make a decision quickly? Seems like he does better with that (2 min drills, no huddle, etc). You've got receivers running routes that are never in the plans to get thrown to, only to not 100% give the D knowledge of who's getting the ball.. but every cornerback, safety, LB, and especially defensive staff knows that. If we're going to do that why not run route fakes, pumps, start with an opposite look and then come back to the guy the ball is played for, something?
My apologies if this has been covered, will read replies now |

The run by Jake was sickening. Hall's effort wouldn't have cut it even in a Pee Wee league.

Re: Slingin Sammy 33s - Panthers Game Review
I think it's painfully obvious Zorn is in way over his head as an offensive coordinator/play caller. He might as well be throwing darts to pick his plays.
