Two good TE's is a waste of one good TE. Ive never seen two TE's produce good numbers on the same team. The closest I can think of is Greg Olsen and Devin Clark going for 936 yards and 6 tds in 2007. In that same year Cooley and Yoder went for 893 yards and 9 tds. Id say the Cooley/Yoder combo was better, especially considering that Yoder is a blocking TE.
Also in that same year, Antonio Gates by himself had 984 yards and 9 tds, Jason Witten got 1145 yards and 7 tds by himself, Tony Gonzolez got 1172 yards and 5 tds by himself, Kellen Winslow got 1106 yards and 5 tds by himself, and Dallas Clark got 616 yards and 11 tds by himself

In my double post (sorry) I'd like to say that there is next to no way were going to trade either cooley or davis. That is simply because we cannot get value for either. Davis is has not produced enough to get high compensation for, and we will not trade him for anything less than we drafted him for. Cooley I feel we would not trade for anything other than a first because that is what we value him at. I do not feel like there is a market for giving up a first rounder for cooley. He will be 28 next season (not that old, I know), and he is coming off a season ending injury, which means that his next season will probably not be so great and it means that he will not be able to produce to his potential for more than a few years after. But even ignoring his age and injury, his numbers are not worth a first. He seems to be able to produce about 60-65 catches for 750 yards and 6 tds consistently which is not worth a first rounder. Also he is known for drops, which is not good. If davis has a stellar second half of the season, I personally would trade cooley for a second, but know that redskins management wont

Huh? First of all, he'll be back on the field in two weeks probably. Secondly, he is in the midst of his prime. I see no reason why we won't get 4 or 5 more pro-bowl caliber years out of Chris. Third, how does the fact that he broke a bone in his ankle mean he won't be able to produce down the road? That makes zero sense. And fourth, he's "known for drops?" Not at all. He's got the best hands on our team, and is a monster after the catch. He's had a fumble here and there, but who hasn't? I don't have a big issue with a fumble or two per year out of a guy who sees around 90 targets a year.

I love that we finally have some depth at TE and then we're ready to ship one of them off. Sure, we need depth other places, but I'd rather at least know that if Cooley or Davis goes down, the other is there to pick up the slack!

Props to F. Davis for coming through in fine fashion. I think he only gets better moving forward and especially more explosive.

...looking ahead the HC/OC HAVE to find a way to utilize 2 TE sets, otherwise we are literally wasting a large portion of our talent on offense.

WHY would you trade Davis? Come on - a good YOUNG TE on a cheap rookie contract? Clearly you keep Davis and trade Cooley (the more expensive version). Even if Davis isn't as good, having another draft pick on the o-line would be worth more to the team than keeping one of these TE's on the bench for 50% of the game.

I've said it before - I'm a big fan of trading older veterans in their prime (ONLY if we get good value):
1) Chris Cooley
2) Andre Carter
3) Santana Moss/Randel El -- but we wouldn't get good value

All the above are in their prime, would cost a lot and may be able to demand good draft picks (probably not 1st rounder, but 2nd rounders?). Then draft O-line (LT/RT,C), QB, OLB and RB if any good ones are available. maybe CB and MLB too.

I hate to say it, but you make a good point. I don't know about being able to get a draft picks that matches the production of the players, and I don't see anyone trading for ARE..

Nice to see Fred taking advantage of his opportunity. I always felt he could get the job done, but playing behind a pro-bowler he just didn't get a lot of chances. Will be interesting to see how he's utilized once Cooley returns.

No way on trading him unless it's a blow away offer...and thats true or any player. I some had a nice 1st rounder they could ship us we'd have to consider it. But I'd rather keep the quality offensive players we have since we don't have many.

Why trade a player you drafted in the 3rd round and gave up a pick to draft him. The Redskins developed him and now you think its time to trade him after we finally have a probowl TE. Who was our last pro bowl TE before Cooley? They dont grow on trees so why not hve 1 pro Bowler in Cooley and a up and coming good player to go with him in Davis.
