Re: President Obama's Nobel Prize Speech

I tried to take off my partisan hat and just listen without bias. It was a very sober and poignant speech. Out the gate, Obama acknowledged that his accomplishments were slight at this point in his presidency and gave a nod to some of the previous recipients of the Nobel Prize.

I was particularly captivated by the fact that he didn't shy away from his decision to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan and went on to make, on some level, a moral argument for war itself. He was blunt in stating that America has bled and fought for peace like no other nation. How war is sometimes neccessary, but never glorious. He acknowledged both Republican presidents (Nixon, Reagan) and Democrats in their respective efforts to balance the need for human rights, diplomacy, and weilding military power when needed.

All in all, even President Obama's harshest critics will find plenty in this speech that would make one proud to be American.

Re: President Obama's Nobel Prize Speech

I liked the looks of the people in the audience as he was making a speech for the Noble Peace Prize and all he talked about was war. I was getting ready for work and laughing so hard at the look on their faces my wife finally came into our bed room to see what was so funny. They had that look that said "Why The Hell Did We Nominate Him".

I was impressed by his defense and support of America's past. I had low expectations, as I fully expected a pacifist appeasing message, but thought he really made good points.

Yeah whatever.

Where are all of those green-jobs they've been promising us since 2006?

Advance this to about 1:30 into his speech and look at their faces. The first blond hair lady they show looks like she just threw up in her mouth.

Yep, but considering he had only 123 days of Senate experience when he started campaigning for President, it's par for the course with him.

You can already predict without even reading any posts what kind of comments different posters here would have.

On that note it must be said that Lord Obama is the greatest human being that has ever lived in the history of all time and space. Well deserved award and amazing speech.

There, I said it!
