New Book Thread

I couldn't find the old one, so here is the new one.

I went to the video store last night to get a copy of "The Road". They didn't have it. I bet the bootleg man has a copy. Anyway . . . .

So I did the next best thing. I got the book and read it. Man that was one effed up book. It was like "No Country For Old Men" except the people ate each other. It wasn't that realistic. Most people don't understand what it would be like after a nucelar war. It wouldn't be as bad as the book was. All in all it was a good read.

I also finished "Blacklisted By History". It's a book showing how McCarthy was right. Once the Russians unclassified they're Soviet records, most of the people McCarthy accused of being Communist, were in fact Communist.

I'm also teaching myself how to speak Italian.

I got 3 Anthony Bourdain books for my birthday waiting to be cracked open. I'll probably starting reading one over Christmas.

Re-reading Eric Redman's The Dance of Legislation in light of recent health care debate. Pretty interesting read from the perspective of an aide in the 70's trying to help get universal healthcare passed.

Annals of the Former World, by John McFee--a book about the geology of the US, of all things. Who'd a thought rocks could, well, rock? Amazing nature writer.

The book reminded me of a movie back in the day called DEFCON 1. Or maybe it was five? Anyway, it wasn't over the top like the latter but it did have the cannibalism aspect to it.

Speaking of which, here's an oldie but goodie.

I love that guy! He had pigeon in Egypt and it looked great. It made me do double takes at the park.
