The Washington Redskins have continued to re-shape their coaching staff by promoting a trainer and hiring an assistant to head coach Mike Shanahan.

Larry Hess has been promoted to the position of the Redskins' head athletic trainer. He spent the last four seasons as the team's director of rehabilitation and four seasons before that as a physical therapist and assistant athletic trainer.

The Redskins also hired Paul Kelly with the title of Assistant to the Head Coach/Football Administration.

Kelly has previously served as an assistant to head coach Bill Callahan in Oakland, and Jon Gruden in both Oakland and Tampa Bay, with responsibilities including assisting in football operations, overseeing player and staff communications with the head coach and managing the football calendar.

...and is this because it's from PFT and we are waiting for a more reputable news source or is it because finally everyone is getting tired of hearing about the Asst. of the Asst. being hired? JK.

I know it wasn't very news worthy but I just thought I post it since I didn't see it anywhere.

Actually I read it on the Redskins site. I wasn't trying to be a smartass, though it probably read like it, I was just too busy..(lazy)..at the time to post it.

Re: Coaching Staff update

Former Redskin Practice Squad WR Richmond Flowers has joined the staff as a coaching assistant, and former NFL OL Steve Wisniewski is rumored to be joining as another assistant.

Steve Wisniewski! Haven't heard that name in a while. He was a nasty player, always looked at as one of the dirtiest players in the league.

Even voted as it once!

Quote:
1. Steve Wisniewski, guard, Raiders
A near-unanimous choice who racked up $65,000 in fines last year. "Wiz is a dirty bastard," says Minnesota long-snapper Mike Morris, an 11-year veteran. "He chops from behind. He'll shoot knees ... I'll take sides with any old lineman, but this m----------- had me cursing and swearing on TV. I couldn't believe the shots he took." Says a Raiders teammate, "Wiz is probably the dirtiest offensive player of all time, whether he admits to it or not." Adds a Buffalo Bill: "He'll get his."

Shanahan must like the OL playing dirty. After all, injuring someone is a way to make winning easier.

Sounds like Flozell Adams' motto for the 2009 season.

Flozell's favorite song is the old "you can whip it, whip it good."

Re: Coaching Staff update

just saw the video on Chris Foerester our new OL coach, sounds pretty excited to see what he does with our OL this coming year.

This is random but he looks like a thicker bigger version of Norv Turner.

More rumor mill. Thought I'd put it here. Apparently our FO is not happy with our scouting dept.

Loyal readers of the Warpath have known for a while that contracts were set to expire for a lot of or scouts and other FO Execs shortly following the draft, and that Jim and/or Jeff Goodman were favorites to join the staff
