Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
This is not the same old Redskins team any more. It appears the Redskins are not telling every media outlet their plans anymore . Maybe they are taking a page from the New England Patriots. We do have a plan and its not build a team through free agents.

I think Dansby was more likely to sign w/ the Tuna, or I mean the Dolphuna's, anyway. I suspect Parcells can convince just about anyone he's building a winner.

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Karlos Dansby said that he's still open to talking to the redskins and has done his homework on the skins
It was believed that if the Redskins couldn't land Peppers, they would make a push for Arizona linebacker Karlos Dansby. In a phone interview shortly after midnight, Dansby said that the only trip he has scheduled is to Miami. "But Washington is definitely a place I'm looking at," he said. "My gate is wide open right now. I'm going to take every visit. I'm going in to every team to see what type of the piece of the puzzle will I be. "I want to fit in just right. I want to be in a perfect situation and do my part. That's what I'm looking for in these organizations. I'm still waiting on my agent to text me back about [visits] as we speak, but Miami is definitely one of 'em right now. I'm going to go down there to see how I would fit in Miami." With Peppers already scheduling a trip to Chicago, Washington would have a difficult time re-entering the race -- if, in fact, it ever truly was in the race. Free agents don't typically go to cities to tour the museums and sample the restaurants. There will be a contract waiting for Peppers to sign, and the Bears won't likely let him leave town until he has put his name to paper. Bears Coach Lovie Smith landed in Charlotte early Friday morning to meet with Peppers and his agent, Carl Carey. The three were expected to fly back together to Chicago later Friday. As for Dansby, he would welcome a trip to Ashburn. "I do my homework, man," Dansby said. "Any team that wants me to visit, I do homework on 'em. I have to know how would I fit in. I know about Washington."

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Chad Clifton a weak idea of trying to address a line. A backup on any decent offense.
But on the other hand, if you're not interested in taking a player who isn't a quarterback at No. 4, better to sign a marginal LT and draft a strong RT than the opposite.

Also, Schefter made it sound like teams are going to continue to make cuts. As foreign as it sounds, maybe the Redskins are patient and wait for decent guys to become available. |

Casey Rabach is mediocre and they overpaid him by a heck of a lot - if it was still the salary cap era. Not really sure what to think in these uncharted waters.

I am not sure he was overpaid. They brought Wiegman in yesterday and could not agree. So I would not be surprised if he signs for more $ than Rabach.

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
All I know is waking up this morning to no big name news was foreign to my last 10 years as Redskin fan. It seems like a good thing. And the fact is, now maybe some names may still sign with us, ie Dansby, but it won't have been a "rush to judgement" feeling about it.
Again, seems like a more professional approach overall.

for real, last year was the most extreme. The FO did such a good job of hiding their interest in AH until the last couple days before FA, then boom, he signs. I didn't like it before or after, but I had to try & spin it to myself that it was a good move. Glad that so far (there's a long way to go) I'm not dealing w/any of that. |

I wonder if BA and MS think Albert is an asset to the team or a big headache that they need to try to fit somewhere, especially now that they are looking at the 3-4. I am guessing the latter.
