More then likely it would be people close to them "with knowledge of the situation." We'll see but right now I don't think we'll really know until draft day.

I think people may be confusing that statement with him watching hours of college/pro tapes, which included Notre Dame, while he was off last season.

But I haven't heard him say anything specifically about Clausen either.

Re: Jimmy Clausen has met with the Redskins

Clausen is a lot different than Cutler coming out. Cutler was a LOT more polished, even at football-starved Vanderbilt, stronger arm, quicker decisions, etc. Clausen is a lot wiser of a passer, but his skills more unrefined. A 28/4 TD-INT rate is not something Cutler would or could have gotten anywhere near had he played at Notre Dame. Cutler is more of a chain-mover, keep firing, throw 50 times a game type. Clausen will probably lean on a running game.

On a pass-to-pass basis, Clausen is probably a better investment than Cutler was, but Cutler's tools and 4,000 yard ability are what made him so intriguing to teams last offseason (and made his obvious flaws ignorable). Bradford is much closer to Cutler than Clausen is (though I am not sure I would say Bradford compares favorably -- I might).

Very interesting point man. I have never been a fan of Cutler's QB skills. Clausen on the other hand I can see becoming quite a good QB with a balanced game, like you said.

I don't agree at all with you that Clausen's skills are unrefined. What I see in Clausen is a player with good footwork, a quick release, a good feel for and ability to avoid pass rushers while finding room to throw, good accuracy, good touch on the ball when needed, the ability to make all types of throws, and more. I think he'll be ready to start in the NFL sooner than any other QB in this draft.

Like I said before it depends on what the Shanahans think. Personally my eyes like Clausen on film but I'm not a scout, just an above average fan.

Everyone has their own opinion but I think we should take this guy. I've watched a lot of ND games and I'm impressed with him. I don't see any weakness in his game.

Re: Jimmy Clausen has met with the Redskins

I still have a feeling the Redskins are going to make a pre-draft move to get Bradford. I could see us sending Rocky McIntosh, Fred Davis, swap firsts this year, and possibly our first in 2011 to move up to take Bradford. The Rams would then take Clausen at four. I know most on this board will be livid with such a move but Shanahan and Allen are very bold and have the guts to go and get their man. Also, Bradford will not sign a pre-draft deal with the Rams which indicates he doesn't want to be a part of a team with no owner, poor fan attendance, and a dreadful team. This could become a John Elway or Eli Manning deal.

Yeah, part of me says that Jimmy Clausen is a better choice and to stick with some of our guys who have trade value. The other part says we're missing out on a future superstar quarterback in Bradford. Again it wouldn't surprise me also if we end up taking a guy like Okung?

Who else is excited for Jimmy Clausen's pro day? Let's hope he answers all the questions and helps us make a clear decision.

I feel like Bradford is on the hype machine, every year it is some guy. How can every year produce a next great QB?

Look at last year would you rather have had Sanchez or Stafford now after their first year?

I think you gotta take Stafford first year with a grain of salt. He was on a really really bad team. I dont think you can say Sanchez is the better QB at this point b/c of the playoffs, even though regardless of what hater rhetoric is spewed, first the drive to get in the playoffs and then the playoffs run itself was extremely impressive. I laugh when people say ooohh the QB had nothing to do with that...really??? I mean he is the guy driving the offense, giving the ball to people every offensive play, and people look and listen to him in the huddle. You gotta have something to do that. Put your bs stats up your a$$, the guy overachieved helped lead his team almost to the superbowl.
Stafford was impressive as well showing how tough he was, playing through injury, and basically played the QB position better than anyone in Detroit the previous 3-4 years. Its too way to early to say who is better at this point, but both were excellent in their first year. In the long run...ill say Stafford will be better and would take him.
