Nice to see a quiet opening to FA for a change from the Skins
I love the approach to FA and I also love the way Bruce Allen handles the media. He was asked a dozen or so questions last night and he only answered one. You can tell the locals here have an uneasiness about the questions they ask, they're just not getting the customary answers.

Yeah. It looks like there's a new sherriff in town. Perhaps there is actually a plan for long term success rather than a "Hey - Let's try this, maybe it will work!!" attitude.

Glad to see some of the SI guys getting caught on there refried "sources".

How old is Peppers? Yeah, I'm too lazy to look it up.

I just don't think it's the end of the world that we didn't land a lukewarm, albeit talented, 30 year defensive end. We'll be fine.

Love that we arent breaking the bank for Peppers but i'm somewhat discouraged that Chad Clifton and Babber or whatever the heck his name is are the only guys we're pursuing. Clifton definitely feels a need as a stopgap, but Babber is downright awful.

I'm not really that high on the pursuit of Clifton for various reasons, health as well as age being atop my concerns. Replacing a 33 yr. old tackle with another 33 yr. old is suspect IMO. I'm having a difficult time trying to understand what it is we have against drafting offensive linemen.

Who says Allen isn't planning to draft more than one linemen? Signing a stop gap tackle doesn't mean you won't draft his eventual successor to develop behind him for a year.

You're coloring your thought process with Snyderatto logic. It's time for Shanallen logic.

Exactly. Plus it would be nice to have some quality back up if someone goes down for a change. I'm all for upgrading the line by any means and free agency plus the draft is the best way to do it.

Mind you I'm just guessing, but during JG1 I thought I remember his saying he preferred the older OL cause they usually don't make the same mental mistakes. JG2 pretty much confirms that with him picking up aged OL vs. drafting OL high in the draft. So I'd guess it has something to do with the fact that young drafted OL will make mental mistakes and pick up false starts or penalties vs. older OL.

I'm in the camp of getting younger across the board. I'll take the mental mistake and the 5yrd penalty once and a while so long as we are moving the ball and scoring points.

The Eagles have an offer on the table for Peppers... I'd rather see him go to Chicago

Me too. I don't really want him but I don't want anyone else in the NFC East getting him either.

honestly, i dont think Peppers will be a major factor wherever he goes. Perhaps playing for a real contender would motivate Peppers, but from all reports, the guys just never had a passion for the game. If Peppers went to Philly and became a bum, that would only help us - especially if the cap comes back next year and the eagles couldnt cut him.
