Losing Betts will hurt. Antwan i wont miss, but i'm surprised they let Todd Collins go. This tells me that they will be picking up a new QB. They must have plans for colt because they didnt release him....

The loss of any of these guys wont hurt a bit as none of them were doing anything that another player could have done for a lot less $. The only player that should have been on the list but wasnt is Portis, but I understand the contract and cap reasons he wasnt shown the door.

Let's hold out hope guys, Portis could still be cut because they have a mini camp coming up and i'm sure that Portis will refuse to participate, cause thats just his style

He would have been cut already if it was going to happen. Better get used to it, he's our back for 2010.

Did you hear Bruce Allen yesterday?

Asked about the status of Clinton Portis, Allen replied: "Right now, he's our starting running back and that's what our plan is."

Portis is our best option at this point. I don't love his mouth but if he is motivated he can still be a force.

I can understand their thought process where Portis is concerned. The guy has guaranteed money owed to him, from a financial standpoint it wouldn't make a lot of sense for him to sit at home and collect millions. May as well get what's left out of him and hope it's enough to help win some games.

He's not much of a force anymore. He constantly dinged up and now its worse since he's one hard shot to the head away from really having problems.

The other player who should also have been let go is Sellers. He's a 1 trick pony (that doesnt even do that trick so great anymore) that also has fumble problems.

CP would've been my first cut. He's going to complain and cry like he always does so I'm not sure why they're keeping him around. He's just not worth it anymore. I'd go out and sign Thomas Jones (who is a real professional) and draft a scat back in the later rounds. There is simply no reason to keep CP.

im actually happy we are moving ahead full force. These guys all needed to be let go. No excuse to have three backs at the 30 year old mark, are who cant return balls anymore etc, etc. the question is now, who fills the holes?

Re: Updated: Redskins Make Major Roster Cuts

So, does this constitute a rebuilding phase? <sarcasm font off>

Glad they did this. These guys had 4-6 years to make it happen and couldn't be consistent winners. Granted, there was a lot of other sh** going on (Bye bye Vinny), but, if these guys couldn't be consistent winners in their prime, no reason to expect them to be so now.

With the loss of Jansen, Samuels, Griffin, Washington, etc. over the last two year, this team is completely retooling and I would be surprised if more than three or four players from 2009 team are on the the 2011 roster.

Good bye Snyderatto, Hello Shanallen.

Re: Updated: Redskins Make Major Roster Cuts

I was one that didn't really care if Portis stayed or left, but now he is undoubtedly our number one back. Just get used to it. For the most part Portis is a professional on Sundays.

Yeah, he's got some baggage or whatever but with Betts and Rock gone, hopefully Portis will see that it's all on him and Jason. I'm pretty confident he'll rise to the occasion. We know that Jason is the consumate professional.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting excited about training camp already. Isn't that just sad.

1) Portis is our top back until we draft Jahvid Best.

2) forget about training camp, I'm ready for our first game!

Re: Updated: Redskins Make Major Roster Cuts

I dont wanna be a buzz kill, but if we have a complete overhaul, at most we will probably win 8 games, which is still a huge improvement, but i know after 1 win this season people are gonna be talking super bowl.
