Notice I said played.. not was

the year before they would've plugged someone else in.. last year they didn't have as much of a choice but to play him

Re: Flozell Adams at right tackle?

To all who are Gaither fans, I found this in an article on the SFChronicle. Maybe this is why teams are not jumping on a trade for him

Here's a teaser:

The draft is really the only place to land a tackle. Yes, another former Terp Jared Gaither is reportedly available for a second-round choice from the Ravens. But the word around the league is that the mammoth Gaither (6-9, 340) doesn't love the game, rarely works out, and wouldn't fit into a Mike Singletary-coached team.

Ya I would say that is a prob. So, out the window goes the Gaither idea if that proves true. And If i recall, there were some on the Ravens staff questioning his work ethic as well.

At the end of the day, if he was a fiery talented competitor that was passionate about playing, and had nothing but upside, I dont care who else they have on their roster. They wouldn't be shopping the guy. We should know he is not in their long term plans for a reason, and that is a HUGE red flag, literally. Hopefully, our coaches have seen this, and that is why there are no real reports of interest.

Hopefully.

Yeah.. and rumors that he's failed a couple of drug tests and is facing a 3rd strike if he does it again.

Sounds pretty much what SmootSmack said. It's a shame since he appears to be talented.

He can be talented but if his heart is not in it, then what a shame.

1 LT (11), RT (0) Kwame Harris OAK -16.0
2 LT (16), RT (0) Flozell Adams DAL -13.5
3 LT (0), RT (16) Willie Colon PIT -12.5

Penalty yards rating (not sure if it's averaged of snaps or games or how it is achieved.)

Heyer shouldn't even be on a practice squad, the way he played last year. Cut his ASS.

Re: Flozell Adams at right tackle?

Just a one year deal for Flozell. No problem with that. Would prefer to keep Levi Jones and draft an OT.

Even if Okung makes it to us, we draft him and he is our best tackle going into the season, I still think we need a veteran left tackle on the roster. We at least need a veteran for RT even if we draft another tackle with 4th or later.

I would not feel comfortable with two rookie tackles on opening day.

Agreed. Without question. Regardless of which one starts it would be nice to have Flozell just hanging around the bench JUST IN CASE. Plus there is always the possibility that Shanny may pick up another vet during the cuts coming up later this year. That is probably REAL likely. Then again maybe we draft 3 offensive linemen during those 3 days.

Re: Flozell Adams at right tackle?

let's wait on Flozell, he will be there. If not, it's not the biggest loss. I am gonna sound like an old tune after a while, but there are probably 6 LT's being taken in this draft, one or two teams will release suitable RT candidates, and we can look at them, along with Levi Jones if he wants to play, and still let Heyer compete for the backup spots. Our line, while awful right now, has a good chance of looking decent by training camp, and if Bruce Allen does his job correctly, we will have plenty of bodies in house to compete, without bringing in an ex-cowboy who also happens to be the 2nd most penalized tackle, and a fairly dirty player (in the bad sense of the word).

Re: Flozell Adams at right tackle?

I dont know man, I want us to get this tackle situation squared away asap also, but Ive seen that dude have more then a few HORRIBLE games. Itz only April, we still have a lot of time, we dont have to get Flozell Adams. He is not completely garbage, he is just ok. I think we can do better then him. Not to mention he's a cowboy. If we pick up any cowboys, they better be dam good or have some upside.

I say let Shanahan work his magic, he's suppose to have a good eye for oline talent.
