I have a collection of razors, but here are the ones in my usual rotation to use:

My favorite blades:

Crystal Double Edge Razor Blades (100 Blades) [RB-CRY-002] - $12.00 : West Coast Shaving, Double Edge Blade Sampler Packs

SHAVE SOAP:
$2 at pharmacies or Walmart for a good soap

or upgrade for about $4 to:

SHAVING CREAM MOOD INSTEAD OF SOAP?

$5 at Bath and Body Works...feels awesome. I use it for Travel. Same as Proraso vintage shave cream:

Finally, my go-to After Shave, wife loves it too. About $6 at any pharmacy. They make a Bay Rum that I like a lot too. It's a traditional barber shop favorite:

Up until a few years back I had several razors like that and use them with the shaving soap. Some how when we moved I never found them when unpacking. After reading this its reminded me to check those 3 to 4 boxes we never unpacked because your right they do give a better shave.

I'd never go against the grain if I grew real facial hair.. I can get away with it some on my chin.. I can go in swirls on my face if I want

Re: F....Paper Cuts

I go with the grain to start and then against to finish up. But if I've used the blade a couple of times and it's not in great shape I try to avoid going against. But, now that it's playoff time I haven't shaved in over a week, and I just got past the really itchy stage so I'm good to go.

Back to the thread (sort of): What about the distant cousin of the paper cut - The crab claw cut. All the MD and VA guys here should know what I'm talking about. When you're eating blue crabs and the claw or shell cuts your hand and you get all that vinegar and Old Bay in it. That always hurts like a BITCH!

In my bartending days if I had crabs the night before then went into work the next night, I found all the little cuts on my hand really fast, all it took was the first garnished lime or lemon wedge that I reached for.

I dry heaved and ran to bathroom because I thought I was going to throw up all over the couch. That was so awful. I get that spitty mouth just thinking about it. The urine snow cone was a close second. Why I ever watched those movies I still don't know.

I used to like the Jackass show, but I skipped the movies after hearing about some of the crap they did.
