Sounds nice but we don't have the players for that, or for any offense really.

No matter who we bring in, we still suck. And I mean we suck bad. Right now, this team is no better than they were under Zorn. The shit's 'fn' embarrassing. You guys that live in Redskins country think you have it bad, try being a displaced Redskins fan.

I'm starting to believe we're an NFC WEST team playing in the NFC EAST. IMO, we don't deserve to he in the NFC EAST. This team is disgracefully bad. And yeah, they're gonna get smoked by the Cowboys.
DM72, a while back I posted a similar thread, in which I compared the Redskins' winning divisional winning record in the last ten years against the Cowboys, Giants, and Eagles. As you can imagine, the Skins were very much at the bottom; no big surprise there. What was surprising, however, was the Redskins non-divisional record vs. the other NFC East teams. In that case, the Skins' winning percentage was much closer to the other teams, and in fact, very comparable to the Giants and Eagles. Whether the statistics mean anything or not (and I'd like to re-research them, but I just don't feel like putting in the effort), the fact is that for 10 years the Redskins have, on average, sucked against their divisional rivals. While the other teams step up, the Redskins seem to step down. At least the statistics support that conclusion; whether or not you want to read into them like that is up to you.

The most frustrating thing of course is that the East is the most intense division in football. In no other division do the teams and their fans have as much animosity for all of the other teams in the division as the teams in the NFC East do. And when you're the doorstop of the division for ten years, it just becomes un-f***ing-bearable.

Re: Anyone Else Get The Feeling That We Don't Belong In The NFC EAST?

all i know is even though we have a better record than last year, but we look just as bad if not worse than last year. i just don't know how to feel about this team anymore. i'm not going to jump of the bus but i'm gonna get real cozy in the back of this bitch til we turn this thing around. people can say what they want about it just being a game, but in this day and age it really isn't for some people. there are a lot of people like me and alot of others on this board that live and breath football, and mostly redskins football. it's just deppressing to watch and almost unbearable, it's said to see where this team has gone in the past few years. yeah we haven't really been the cream of the crop the past decade but we were in the discussion atleast. now the only discussions we are in are the ones about a team thats on a roll settign records against us.

TMC said it in another thread today and i agree i have never in my life in any sport seen any one team allow every single team they play to set all sorts of milestones and records. it really is sad, just sad. i really hope we can accomplish somthing towards the end of the season and during the offseason i really do, i just don't see it happening.

Don't belong in the NFC East because it's so good and we suck? It's not even the second best division in the NFC this year.

Maybe Shanahan needs a little more time to grow accustomed to coaching in the NFC East. It's a big difference in comparison to the AFC West. It's going to take time to get this ship righted.

Re: Anyone Else Get The Feeling That We Don't Belong In The NFC EAST?

You know what the one constant in having any successfull offensive scheme is? I'll give you a hint, it's not the qb or the other skill position players, it's the offensive line.

Build the lines up front and we won't regret it. Look at teams like the Giants, missing what, like 3 o-line starters and their depth is so good they have stepped in and haven't missed a beat, in fact no sacks given up in 5 straight games is crazy considering their injuries.

If you build an offensive line capable of handling all the rushes and the great front fours, it'll greatly help everybody else on the offense. Just look at Peyton Manning, ever since his o-line has turned to shit he hasn't been the same.

And the same applies to the d-line. There's a reason they say a nose tackle is the most important position in a 3-4 defense, and you could tell that from any game we've lost because we can't get pressure.

Keep building the lines in the offseason and I would think next season will be much better. As for this season well we know it's over, if I was the coach I'd start putting guys in the lineup just to see what they got. It's not about the playoffs at this point.

I agree....this headline says it all.

Washington Redskins are run over by New York Giants; Albert Haynesworth does not play

Re: Anyone Else Get The Feeling That We Don't Belong In The NFC EAST?

I posted this on a different thread

So the reason AH92 was inactive today was that he was sick on Friday, and he was late by 1 minute on the field and he wasn't told that he wouldn't play today until he showed up at the stadium today. Shanny is a peace of work. WTF IS GOING ON HERE?

Shanahan is known for play action and bombs downfield. The Coryell needs even more elite talent on the O-line than the WCO

We all know the o-line an the d-line need work. I agree with on "elite talent" for the o-line is needed but I'm just saying West Coast offense & Redskins shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence. Look at all the great running backs we had, Riggins, Rogers, Byner, Brown, even Portis for Gibbs 2, hell even Betts was running good when he wasn't fumbling. Hate to say it but O would use at least 75% of our draft picks addressing the lines and pick up what we can to use at stop gaps for the other positions. We should go back to a 4-3 and put Orakpo at DE. IT would be easier for us to get good quicker by switching back to the 4-3...

Re: Anyone Else Get The Feeling That We Don't Belong In The NFC EAST?

For next season the Redskins need to keep Trent Williams and bring up Selvish Capers/Erik Cook from the practice squad and release every other player on their O-Line. Then use their 1st and 2nd round picks on O-Lineman to get two more talented players. After the draft sign a bunch of young free agents and see if they can find any players to build some YOUNG depth. Till we get a solid O-Line our offense will continue to stink. We have to be able to run the ball to set up playaction and the longball.
