Re: Is anyone else just absolutely disgusted with DM5's play?
McNabb has been pretty much what I expected, although refreshingly durable for some reason. That brittleness was the first thing that came to mind about McNabb and it's been more of a minor continuous issue. It does appear our starting QB is going to make 16 starts for the third year in a row, which is no small feat.
McNabb is an average player. He wasn't always an average player, but he is now. Next year, he'll likely still be average. He's worth about what his contract says he's worth. We have much bigger fish to fry in the offseason than McNabb, in part because we didn't use that pick we traded for him to solve those issues. The biggest difference from the Campbell era is that there's no outside hope (for me) that McNabb might somehow become the franchise in 2013. He is about as good as his level of play, which I hope is close to what we were expecting when we picked him up (perhaps with fewer INTs), because he's been healthier than we could have reasonable expected.

Re: Is anyone else just absolutely disgusted with DM5's play?
I've said it over and over again. While I have the utmost respect for DM and what he has done in his career, the bottom line is that Philly knew he was on his last legs and despite the fact that his last season was good in PHI, they knew he couldnt be counted on for the future.
Donovan is nearing the end as an elite QB, and i'm sure he can hang on for a few years and be a Mark Brunell type player (doing enough to win, veteran smarts, etc), but his elite days are over with and he would need all star players like he had in PHI to even resemble his former pro-bowl self. He doesnt have that here, and he won't. It isnt a knock on him or us, it's just our team is not like Philly. We are better off trying to keep McNabb for one more year, and drafting a QB to learn the system while we beef up the O-Line...

Re: Is anyone else just absolutely disgusted with DM5's play?
It was my belief at the time McNabb was traded for, he was overvalued. Many of the mistakes we see him make are not the direct result of the ineffectiveness of the O/L, mistakes you wouldn't expect to see repeated from a 12yr. veteran being adorned with celebrity status.
McNabb… or McFail? | Man Cave Sports Brian Baldinger once characterized McNabb as being a flawed quarterback, based on his play at times it's hard to argue his assessment.

DM has no running game, terrible WRs and a crummy O line so its tough to look good or make anything happen. DM is past his prime but if he had some weapons he'd be playing much better.

Now obviously we can't expect McNabb to put up a 90 plus rating with some of the problems we've had on the offensive side of the ball, but I'm pretty sure we can expect a passer rating above 80. Especially considering the system he's in as well as the fact that he does have a decent receiving corps. Usually a good QB can cover up a lot of deficiencies. I hate to break it to everyone but we're not going to have a line that reads top 5 pick, 2nd rounder, 1st rounder, big name free agent, 1st rounder. Fortunately we might be able to patch up the receiving corps through free agency and take it to the next level but still. I certainly expected better then 12 TD passes especially given all the red zone opportunities this team has had.

Not really a completely fair comparison since the Colts have had that same system since Manning came into the league. And even then they've certainly had their share of struggles this year.

If McNabb was still on Philly I don't think he would be putting up the numbers that Vick is. Vick actually throws a better ball and is more accurate.

Would they still be winning though? I think so.

And to make matters one of the games that we did manage to put up over 20 points was thanks to the fact that Banks gave us a TD Return against the Lions not to mention the fact that Banks has given our offense plenty of chances to work with a short field. So with that our offense has failed to post more than 20 points in 9 games this season. We've also had two games won by defensive scores (Dallas and Chicago). Strongly disagree with that statement as it relates to Collins. Collins played lights out during that late season playoff run posting a QB rating of 106. It would have been higher had it not been for the terrible winds at Giants Stadium during his second start. We were also in position to beat Seattle during the playoffs.
