Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
This still goes back to the Vick situation. I don't care what you guys think of him but the Skins had a HUGE opportunity to bring him in for cheap. Before Vick went to the Eagles I was all over this because I thought it be a great chance for us to get a proven QB that is still young and for a cheap price. It was a low risk high reward situation. I'm still pissed that we didn't make a move on Vick.

Well I think you are doing a disservice to Andy Reid and company because they have a lot to do with what Vick is today. If Vick came here with Zorn or MS he probaly be where DM5 is right now. This team is just an epic fail at this point. I don't even defend them anymore I am just like yea that suck to other NFL fans, so f--king sad.

As much as i wanted him too i dont think theres any chance Mike Vick would have had any success here. At this point in his career he needs stability; something the Redskins have lacked since Danny took over. As much as it pains me to say, the truth is Philly is a really well run franchise where questionable guys can come in and do well. Just think about how the eagles have handled getting rid of McNabb interdivision, starting Kolb, benching Kolb (after his recovery from injury) for Vick, benching Kolb again (after Vick became healthy) for Vick. They have a more erratic fan base too and they still pulled it better off than the Redskins have with our QB events; not signing McNabb to a extension early in the season, benching McNabb for Grossman w 2min left in a winnable game, signing McNabb to a extension, and now after 2 weeks of rumors of benching McNabb for Grossman. I am personally for the move to bench him at this point in the season because the season is OVER. Lets test out the players we have and see if they can make contributions to the team next year. I think McNabb is the better of the 2 qb’s by far but wants the point in continuing to play him. It should be audition time for all the not so big names, imo. We know what to expect from most other guys, let the rest of the guys make or not make a name for themselves. Also, ive said this before but this has been the toughest season for me. I really just don’t care anymore, I really don’t. Even though its “dallas week” I wasn’t even really going to watch the game. Maybe lay on my couch nurse a hangover, drink enough to fall asleep at a reasonable hour, and flip around channels crossing my fingers for a movie on tbs or something. Now I am actually kind of excited/curious and want to watch just to see how horrible, great, or unremarkable Grossman plays. A lot of QBs have been labeled failures or busts with their initial teams and have ended up having great careers. Why do people have hate for a guy that hasn’t really even ever been given the chance with us before? |

i guess you are trying to make the best out of the situation and yes now i'm more interested in watching the game than i was before. the thing that really irks me is the lack of direction of this team. at this point shanahan looks like he is in over his head and is treading water. and you talk about vick coming in but the guy that i would have loved to keep around was jc. it all goes back to the bullshit philosphy of win now. we could have easily kept campbell and seen if he could have fit into the system, while they tried to rebuild a team instead of bringing in aging players and guys who were out of the league last year. the desicions that shanny has made so far are questionable at best. i think one of his biggest mistakes was getting rid of jc and betts, we could have riden them out for one more year instead of shipping off draft picks and aquiring crappy retread rb's bottom line is this team doesn't look like it will ever succed with snyder as an owner. ever since he has takin the reins we have gotten worse by the year. we keep diggin ourselfs further into a hole with no way to get back out. it's become very evident in the past few years that he could care less about the team winning as long as he makes money. our team was practicing in a ****in washington sports club yesterday, the washington redskins were practicing on a basketball court at a local ****in gym. people can defend him all they want but the guy is all about the money, yeah i know he wants to win but thats not his first priority. if it was he would be more concerned with an outdoor practice facility than putting more seats in fedex.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
If I knew that MS was going to waste a 2nd and a 3rd on DM, then maybe we should've drafted Bradford instead of giving Philly those picks.
Personally, I would have rather seen some less expensive mediocre QB (JC, Rex) at the helm, drafted a quality player with the 2nd, and have an almost full compliment of draft picks for 2011.

For like the billionth time Bradford was never an option, we don't have anything the Rams would have want more then Bradford sans a decade of 1st round picks.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
A 1st and a 2nd in 2010, and a 3rd in 2011? I think they would have traded. By the way, I was not one for Bradford, it's just that I feel that the 2nd and 3rd given up for McNabb have been an utter waste.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
People's subjective valuations can be much higher than the supposed "market value". If the Rams FO rated Bradford as the next great one to join the class of Montana, etc, 3 1st rounders may have been needed.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
Skins were definitely interested in Bradford, they and the Rams were the only teams that had him in for workouts. You have to conclude that the Rams simply weren't interested in trading down, and after passing on several other top young QBs in recent years you can't blame them.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
Well the way he's telling it is that now that we're eliminated he needs to evaluate his other QBs. Which I suppose could lead one to infer that he believed that as long as we were in playoff contention, DM5 was the one to get it done

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
Did any other coach here under Snyder ever do this?? Other than spurrier flip flopping between Shane Matthews and Danny Weurfull, i can't think of anybody else being benched except for when Gibbs pulled Ramsey for Brunell, and then benched Brunell in 2006 when we were mathmatically eliminated....
