Re: Meet The Candidates: 2012 GOP Thread

@Dirtbag59: I tend to stay away from comparing one presidency to another. My only exception would George W. Bush's time in office. But each presidency should be judged and compared through the lens of history. Every president inherits a different world than his predecessor and we can always think of areas for improvement regarding policy. I think it's really difficult to argue that Bill Clinton would have handled the Libyan crisis and Egypt any better or differently, for that matter, than President Obama. One of Clinton's biggest regrets until this day is not intervening in the Rwandan genocide and most foreign policy experts believe his response to the Balkins was a bit tardy. On the other hand, no matter how the economy turns out Obama will be known for ordering the killing of Bin Laden.

That being said and bias removed, I think history will look favorably on President Obama's eight years in office. Bill Clinton was the right guy for that time, but he didn't inherit two and oversee two theaters of war, a global financial crises, an auto industry on the brink of bankruptcy, and a country literally spiraling into depression. In some ways we really are comparing apples and pears.

Only Congress has the power to declare war on Christmas. It's in The US Constitution.

lol nice

Christmas is all about money now period. Its about making bottomlines. Same people that bitch about a culture war on christmas rather sit in lines to get $500 tv than show up for church or mass on christmas day. Hypocricy is seriously our country's most entertaining value.

Speak for yourself. Me and several others have worked all week to get food, gifts, paid a families rent, etc.. to help them through christmas. While doing this I have found a whole network of people trying to help people and it has made Christmas that much more special this year.

That is really great FD and it brings the true meaning to the holiday.

Charity and giving is awesome, i guess when people call it other things it invokes different reactions. But come'on Money, materialism > sweet baby jesus in this country all day long

Actually I did not mean for that post to sound like the "me" post as it did. Our Club decided to give $ to needy families in our area. What I was trying to point out was how many people where actually networking to help families in our area. We see the people out shopping around but what's not seen are all the people helping others in tough times.

No need to wage war on xmass...let the christians celebrate thier pagan festival. Also, I can understand kids getting gifts but adults exchanging gift of similar value? Seems stupid.

Remember, cash is king... give a gift card.

Boehner’s office cuts off C-SPAN cameras as GOP takes verbal beating | The Raw Story

Why do people still support these clowns? I find it hilarious we talk shit about North Koreans being brain washed, yet follow idiots like this in our government.

A lot of independents I know aren't very fond of presidents named Bush. It's kind of like being a hedge fund manager and getting a vote of confidence from Bernie Madoff.
