Re: How far can Beck take us?
I was being sarcastic but that doesnt translate well to written posts. I agree 100% with you but that's not how it was portrayed to or looked at by the fans (especially when Gibbs was brought back).

It does appear like we're entering the building stage, I only hope that we get 5 years to do it and the rug doesn't get pulled out from under Shanny too soon.

Re: How far can Beck take us?
I think this year with so many new pieces in place, we might see them struggle early on. Could be one of those years where the record isn't a good indicator of how good the team really is. 7-9 maybe?

I think we will struggle due to the schedule, not the new players. :P It's brutal. |

strength of schedule aside, that's not an easy schedule by any definition, especially for a team that finished 6-10.

![]() If you rank the teams' schedules based on the win/loss record from last year, the Redskins schedule is a piece of cake. I believe it is the 29th most difficult one based on that metric. The Skins' 2011 opponents went a combined 121-135 in 2010. (Check for yourself to see if I made a math error here.) The Redskins get to play the Panthers as one out of division team and the Vikings as the other. Based on comments here, the Vikes should be an easy game because they have such a worthless QB and the Panthers were abjectly miserable last season. ![]() After they play the Panthers and Bills on two consecutive weekends, they then have to contend with the 49ers - - another Super Bowl contender. :yeahright The Redskins - - and the rest of the NFC East - - get to play the NFC West this year as part of the in-conference rotation. Remember, that is the division that had no teams with winning records last year. What you ought to fear the most is that the Redskins EASY schedule will make the team appear to be "one player away from greatness" in 2012 and tempt the powers that be into abandoning the "build from within strategy"...

Re: How far can Beck take us?
I actually wish the Redskins would have done last offseason, what they are doing this offseason. But yeah, I think we are building for the future. None of the signings we've had could be interpreted as "win-now".

Re: How far can Beck take us?
Yeah, but last year they didn't have the cap room they do now, and free agency was pretty limited. And obviously circumstances changed when DM didn't work out. They did do a good job at cleaning things up cap wise for this year knowing they could really make a splash at building a young core for the future.

I like some of the guys they signed, but I question whether a guy like Cofield will fit in here. Hopefully he will. |
