Maybe just as important a question, if your wife is not into football, do you wish she was?

Not if it means I would have to take interest in all her realty tv and vampire shows. Part of me like the idea of football being a guy thing and having her spend her free time cleaning the house and running errands. Plus it can be annoying to hear her cheer against the skins and say "same ol' skins."

Re: How much does your spouse know about football?

My wife knows enough to know she doesn't like it! lol

I think she appreciates an exciting playoff game now and then, but overall I'd say she could live without it just fine. But she married a football fanatic so she puts up with it. I was way worse when we first started dating, so I've kinda met her halfway on some things.

My wife is really into it. She even runs a fantasy football league for her family and friends. (I'm not into FF)

She didn't really know much about football when we got together, but she picked it up real quick and has come to love it. She is a diehard skins fan now, just like me.

She is super competitive and football really brings it out.

She also likes fast cars. She's a keeper.

My wife's family is from the Chicago area so they are all Bears fans.
But she didn't know squat about football until she met me.
She has a pretty good grip of the game and knows who most of the important players are.
I get tired of the Bears rah rah stuff though.
At Christmas time I always move her Bears ornament to the back of the tree.

Re: How much does your spouse know about football?

God Bless my wife. She couldn't have cared less about football before we got together, but with me playing, coaching our son, and eventually coaching HS, she's been "all in". She was team Mom a couple years for my son's team and has been on the sideline helping in mid-30 degree driving rain.

She knows and understands most of the game and can hold a knowledgable conversation on it. She likes Brees (he's really accurate and does a good job) and Clay Matthews (he Fs people up), she's a Raiders fan but she knows "they won't be good with Al Davis or his son running it". During the season, football's on every night but Tues/Wed. Like I said in the other thread, suffering through Bachelor or DWTS is a worthwhile trade-off.

Not married but my gf doesn't really like it. I'm glad she doesn't like it too. Football Sundays are my day. Leave me alone.

This is me, too. For me I'd feel like George Costanza, the worlds would collide. If relationship Schneed walked into the living room on Sunday afternoon, he would kill football fanatic Schneed.

Spouses need their time apart and separate interests. Football is mine. Book club is hers.

I totally get that. I think if my wife didn't work or we both had 9-5 type jobs, that would be the case with us. But given our conflicting work schedules, sometimes we'll go 2 or 3 days without seeing each other, aside from sleeping next to one another. So football is actually some nice quality time for us.

My wife will watch the skins games but it is not as easy with a little one. She had her nap timed with the games but that didn't last too long. I'll have to say she ask every year about going to a game or two and its me who has not really cared if we did or didn't go.

Re: How much does your spouse know about football?

My wife grew up in a household that watched a lot of football, hockey, baseball, boxing, so she has a genuine interest in watching those sports. And while she doesn't keep up with current rosters and such, she knows who the big name players are. We go to one Redskins game a year, and our 3 year old and 2 year old know that Sundays in the fall are for "touchdown redskins". I even get to watch it during dinner instead of Dora or Wonder Pets, or whatever cartoon the kids are into that very moment.

I had my wife believing that everytime the skins scored that she was suppose to remove a peice of clothing for good luck. She either figured out that I was lying or that it was not working.

Sorry about your decade-long dry spell. During those Zorn years, it seems like 17 points was our ceiling...and we only hit that a couple of times!

Things are looking up this year though!
