Re: Landry to miss opener vs Giants

Hakeem Nicks reached 1000+ yards in 13 games last season and Manningham had NINE-HUNDRED FORTY-FOUR YARDS while starting only EIGHT games last season--yes he was alsoactive for all 16 games--. Not to mention those two combined for TWENTY touchdowns for the Giants last season. Put in perspective, our ENTIRE team only scored TWENTY-ONE touchdowns last season.

Re: Landry to miss opener vs Giants

Roy Williams was not a roamer when he played in Dallas. Ugh, this is tiresome.. People will argue their points untill the end of time and everyone will have their own "facts"

I simply say LL coverage skills are not as bad as some of you say they are. I've never missed a snap of a Redskins game since '88, and nothing anyone says can change my mind from what iv'e seen in Laron's play so far for the Redskins in his career. People talking about things they dont even understand just because it sounds good to them, and talking about how the defense was better without Laron Landry last year? Haha... It's only proving the point that this isn't a debate about LL's coverage skills.. Just more of a defensive/offensive thread about Landry in general and why people have personal issues with a guy they don't even know.

I can't even understand how my D. Hall thread got locked, but this one is still allowed to go on, and it's even worse and more retarded lol.

I'm just going to agree to disagree, and be done with it.

Re: Landry to miss opener vs Giants

I think you guys are forgetting how unathletic Doughty is. Doughty can't really play FS. He's good at strong but has wiffed tackles. LL can play FS and SS and doesn't wiff as much. Plus he is crazy athletic; so in a hypothetical world when LL and Doughty make the same exact mistake, LL can recover quicker and faster.

LL also hits harder causing more turnovers and psychological impact.

Re: Landry to miss opener vs Giants

Interesting article about Landry....old, but still relevant.

Washington Redskins' LaRon Landry Needs to Learn How to Tackle | Bleacher Report

Looking at the stats after the Redskins-Cowboys game, LaRon Landry's nine tackles and two assists stand out. Normally, those numbers would be indicative of a great game.

After all, the next best tackle total of the night was London Fletcher's six. Landry must have been great, right?

Wrong.

While Landry provided a couple of highlight reel hits, he once again played well below his talent level.

LaRon Landry still has great potential and is one of the most athletically-gifted players on the Redskins. Unfortunately, his playing techniques are very flawed.

Against the Cowboys, he was no match for Jason Witten in coverage, and was burned for a crucial big play. But, his lack of effectiveness in pass coverage is not his biggest weakness—his tackling is.

Despite being credited for nine tackles, Landry had several missed tackles against the Cowboys that were the result of poor technique. Specifically, his failure to wrap up.

Time and time again this season, Landry has launched himself at ball carriers with no effort to wrap his arms around them. Rather than executing a proper tackle, he has tried to make "the big hit."

More often than not, Landry has missed the ball carrier completely by flying by them out of control, or he hits them, only to watch them bounce off and keep running.

Landry has shown no improvement in technique over the course of the 2009 season. That is a sign of poor coaching or a player who doesn't listen to coaching.

So, in 2010, the Redskins need to either trade Landry or find a coach that can teach him to eliminate his flaws.

Until one of those scenarios happen, the Redskins will continue to give up big plays due to his lack of fundamentals.

Landry to this day, exhibits a frustrating stubbornness in his approach to the game. He's doing better....still has a ways to go.

Polywog's boner for hating Landry is massive. Bringing up 2 seasons ago, to prove a null point.

Rarely do I put in a vote for a thread to be locked, but I'll second that on this one.

Also, polywog, please answer above point.
