That reminds me. Isn't it about time we blame the training staff?

Nah, I'd rather go with either Graham Gano, Doughty, or Hall. LOL.

How does he keep earning a roster spot? Everytime I see a Redskin player make a bad play, all I can think is "man Reed Doughty sucks." I don't get why we let guys like him fill in depth roles on our team, we should just sign a bunch of starters to be our backups so that we have the best most awesome complete team in the NFL!

Damn but he was being pushed big time by Baker who plays both end and nose. I think Baker had the inside track on the roster spot. Good surgery can have him back 100% next year. Our season doesn't hinge on having Nield or not.

Sad. Hope we put him on IR and he can get back in shape for next year.

Neild was impressive in the opener last season against the NYG. How many rookie defensive linemen can claim they sacked Eli Manning twice in their very first NFL game? But he was average most of last season. Word has it that Chris Baker was pushing Neild hard to become the back up NT. Maybe by injuring his ACL and being put on IR at this early stage of the preseason, Neild actually survived being waived. I hope he can come back next season very determined.

Anyone know exactly how it happened? Did it just kind of pop like Jankins last year or did he have someone roll on it or fall into it?

Nield was a rotation guy but in his 2nd year I think we all hoped to see him take the next step and really contribute in short yardage or to sPell coffield. He seemed like a good blue collar guy in the trenches. Stay hungry Nield- see you next year.

Jenkins was a bigger lost last year then Neil this year. Neil had a few highlights but nothing to get to excited about.

I expect he'll be back, but keep in mind technically he was waived so it's possible someone will claim him today. We shall see

explain this more in terms of when you don't become waived and you can just go straight to the practice squad without him being 'waived'

Well even for the practice squad you're waived first.

Neild was waived/injured and since no one has claimed him he's on the IR for the Redskins. Now he doesn't count against the 90 man pre-season roster.

I know the whole practice squad waiving thing. But for example, when Adrian Peterson tore his ACL last year, his 5th year in the league, and him playing more than 75% of the season, they put him on IR. He went straight there and didn't have to be cut. Chris Neild is a 2nd year player who made the 53 man roster and played more than 8 games for us last year, but yet he has to be cut to go to IR. Is it because he hasn't played in the NFL that long? Or is it because he was a 7th rounder as opposed to a 1st rounder?
