Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Arians was just in Indy and trades him to his old team; That would be an interesting move. nfldraftscout said that Fitz wasn't going to happen but if Irsay is really telling the truth, then it would make sense to bring in Fitz. Fitz, Reggie Wayne (he could also be apart of the deal), Hilton. That team just got real good.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I would think the longer FA goes, the more the team will save on costs. If the FO has people in mind for DBs and they know interest is low why rush.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Because there are few decent CB options left. Check the FA lists. The law of supply and demand says that the remaining good ones will not necessarily come much cheaper than the ones that signed before them.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
If we bring back Hall we are not improving as a secondary. In fact its more likely we are taking a step back at the CB position.

CB and FS are our most pressing concerns at the point. A RT would be nice this year, but with the cap penalties we are screwed. When you think of both Volmer and Winston sitting out there not garnering any interest, it just kills me to think that we could have a great offensive line if we could just get some of our cash back. BUT that is never going to happen so F*$K YOU Goodell.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I fail to understand how resigning a player you had on your roster for the last couple of years is taking a step back. Obviously we do not have the cap room to pursue a viable top tier FA at the CB position. If we did, I'm sure we would have done it.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
If I had a to bracket out the availbable CB...Revis would be seeded #1 and D Hall would be a 16# seed and actually in the playin game. His game is weak son

Our corners aren't the real weakness of the secondary anyway. They're average cover corners who play our unique style of defense (similar to Steelers with pressure out of the secondary more than most) quite well. The FS play was bad, and Haslett's set up/positioning didn't help any, especially early in the season. Bottom line I think is that a starting caliber FS will help the secondary far more than an upgrade at corner, especially factoring in the question of how well any of the FA corners fit our scheme.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Hasn't been a regular part of our history. I'd be especially weary about starting a rookie at FS.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I agree, bringing back Hall, who played solidly last year, is not a downgrade. It would actually help the team's position financially because he'd have to come back with reduced pay, freeing up some of our precious little cap room for some reinforcements around him.
I'd love to bring him back to play FS. I think he'd excel in that role as a ball-hawking centerfielder. There are plenty of quality FA CBs not getting signed yet. We'll get someone before the draft I bet. Starting Wilson with a good FA CB and Crawford/Minnifield at nickel will be more than adqeuate. Then, we should draft more secondary. If Meriweather, Minnifield and T. Jackson can stay on the field, that will go a long way towards improvement. If we're so thin that we're down to Pugh and Bernstine again at safety, we'll be screwed again.
