Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans

To me it looked likt two teams playing their first preseason games. I'll reserve comments until after a couple of more preseason games. I will say that D lineman (not sure who it was) who hit the QB instead of going after the ball was the best play of the night and was a very heads up play. I know that the snap was rolling back to the QB but if it had been a good snap he would have been in the guys face anyways.

Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans

I watched pretty much the whole game (got caught in the line at Chipotle trying to get dinner for me and the misses), and have to say...Chris Samuels better be ready for Game 1, or Jason Taylor will line up over Heyer/Fabini/Gap Player and flat out destroy Jason Campbell...all damn day. The line seems a bit lost without him. The plays JC made looked solid, but he needs to learn to get rid of the ball a bit quicker.

The defense looked pretty good against an aging backup QB and average RBs and WRs. I'm hoping it's a picture of what's to come, however I'll wait and see. Fletcher was all over the place, and the secondary looked pretty good, but I'm not going to get my hopes up just yet.

It's a good thing there are 3 more games, because if it were decided today, I'd imagine Collins being #2 over Brunell. Brunell looked plain horrible, and while Collins was playing against 3rd and 4th string Ds, he looked solid doing so. I wonder if they are starting to regret letting Bramlet go...or if Palmer looks like someone they can mold on the Practice Squad.

I guess it's something you'll never be happy with because he's just not going to ever have a lightening quick release. His throwing motion is what it is. I thought his release has been improved enough, he's holding the ball higher in his drop back and the hitch is less pronounced this year, but in the end you can't completely change his motion, especially when it's not a huge issue to begin with. I think his long arms also give the illusion of a slower motion.

I see the usual bitching about Brunell but I honestly don't see where he was all that bad. They moved the ball a bit while he was in there, and at that point he was playing with scrubs.

I think he would have been better had he not been getting crushed on EVERY third down.

I agree that he will never have a Dan Marino type release. I think this is a bigger issue than people think because when teams will start swiping at the ball (especially if this O line does not get its act together by week 1) while its hanging out there and that can create turnovers. I hope I'm wrong but time will tell.

Yaaay! Todd Collins was 5/5 against the defensive guys that won't make the team! He's our backup for the future.

Don't overreact guys.

That was awesome! They were talking about his high school linebacker experience when he did it.

I have to say though I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Todd Collins accurately throw the ball. Not just little screen passes he had that one 20+ yard pass.

I don't think he'll have a problem with defenses knocking down his passes at all. Campbell is a pretty tall guy, so he'll be able to see and deliver the ball over most Dlineman. Also, he doesn't sling the ball sideways or cock from the hip, so I don't see that being an issue.

I am not talking about batted passes, I 'm talking about the ball being swatted from his hand because he has to bring the ball so far back to throw it.

Marino held the ball up by his ear and flicked it, JC cant do that. JC has to bring his arm back to throw and on Sat night it looked like that ball was sitting there for the taking.

I think this is a coaching preference and it seems like this staff does not think that it's going to be a problem. He can put the ball by his ear but it might mess up his accuracy. Leftwitch does the same thing.

If you ever watch any of Spurrier's QB's they will all have the ball right by their ear, and I think he makes his QB's do this.

If you watch Kurt Warner he does the same thing that JC does but he has a much quicker release. He holds the ball low and that is why he fumbles so much which lead him to the bench.

If JC has a career like Kurt Warner Skins fans will be tickled pink.
