makes sense to me when a guy like hb blades is freaking leading the team in tackles every week, and a guy like dallas sartz is starting to show promise after coming off the hamstring injury. their wont be room for a guy like marshall. i liked the guy too but all in all this makes sense and you could see it coming ever since the preseason started, he was not even noticable in either game.

Re: Lemar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
I think we can look at this move positively. GW was looking for MW to put his hand on the ground this year. Randal Godfrey can now come in and fill that wish of GW if MW is hurting for a time this season. Remember the guy came from the Chargers 3-4 as a SLB meaning he has done this in the past and made it work to some effect. I like the move and it also show some belief in the younger guys we have brought in.
This gives Lemar a chance to sign with another team. which I'm sure he will. I really just hope it isn't anyone in the NFC East (which it seems we as a whole have signed a few guys from each other rosters over the years) We will be ok! Beside I've heard more than a few of you complaining about LM not tackling very well. This guy can come in and sure up the run defense some more.

Re: Lemar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
This move is bad like Trotter getting the boot, but makes room for new blood. Don't know much about Godfrey though. Anybody care to enlighten me?

Re: Lamar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
Yes he did . He has been our best cover LB the past few years . Why anyone questions his play at MLB is puzzling ,,, that would be the same as moving Taylor to CB , then blaming him for not being the next D Green . Marshall will end up in Chicago , NYG or Phily and have a nice career . I guess M Washington will get the ax next year and we will bring in J Seau . We should have atleast gottten a 6th rounder for him .

Re: Lemar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
don't like the move of cutting marshall.... i do like the moe i bringing in Godfrey tho, he's a pretty solid vet... I'm also interested in seeing H.B. and Startz get alittle bit of playing time via Marcus will not be healty thruout the season nd Godfrey is old, plus a ? mark

Re: Lemar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
Honestly I haven't seen anything from Dallas Sartz. Dallas has not impressed me at all in preseason. I have no doubt in my mind that Lemar Marshall is way better than Dallas Sartz. What I don't understand is why would we get rid of Marshall, when we have guys like Matt Sinclair, and Kevin Jones on the roster that we can cut, to get Godfrey, instead. Could you imagine the depth we would have at LB if we had Randall Godfrey, and Lemar Marshall?

Re: Lemar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
It was only surprising because Lemar knows the system and played fairly well for us. But, he wasn't going to start for us this year anyways. So, it wouldn't have affected our defense unless somebody got hurt. Maybe he asked to be released when he found out they are bringing in Godfrey and realized his chance of starting was very slim.

Re: Lemar Marshall released for Randall Godfrey??
Kelli Johnson on comcast made a good point that's been made before, the core skin talk doesn't seem to mean much at times. LM did a lot for the team, filled in where asked to & played hurt.
The more I think about this it sounds like it was GW's move. I hope Gibbs isn't letting his assistants decide who gets cut, but it really looks like it here. Godfrey played for GW in Tenn. I would hope that Gibbs valued LM a lot & gave this a lot of thought. |
