Re: Zorn becomes SKINS new OC.

Zorn has certainly done a fine job in Seattle with Matt H. I think this will be good for JC to work with an Ex-NFL QB, the experience is priceless.

Zorn does have alot more responsibilities in his role as OC/QB coach. He has a full plate. We will see how he makes out.

Bill Lazor seemed to be a fine young coach, just not so sure he was the right guy for the job as our QB coach, just due to lack of experience (I know you have to get it some where, I just had the feeling he was in over his head). Hopefully he will find work.

And I am almost 100 percent sure that is why they hired Jim Zorn as their offense coordinator.

I feel bad for Lazor because he seemed like a good guy and you don't like to see people get fired, especially those who don't likely have others knocking down their doors. I mean, I suspect he's not in high demand. But it's premature to call it a stupid move by a stupid owner
Sounds like Lazor isn't out yet, might just be up to the next HC? That might be the only coaching decision he makes.....

The person said Al Saunders' son, offensive assistant Bob Saunders, will not return next season. Less certain was the future of quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor. After initially deciding that Lazor will not be back next season, the Redskins instead will leave his fate to the new head coach

FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Redskins fire Williams, Saunders; Blache promoted

Damn! Damn! Damn! Not Bob Saunders. Nooooo!!! That's it, Goodell needs to fold this franchise right now!!!

Seriously though, thanks for the update on Lazor. That's very interesting

Re: Zorn becomes SKINS new OC.

My other question is this. If the leading candidate is Fassel and they are waiting to contact Spagnoulo how will they fit the systems? When Fassel was in NY was their offense a WC style or will there be friction between Fassel and Zorn about style and play calling? If the HC is Spagnoulo he is a defensive minded coach, is his style similar to Blache's or are they going to blend their schemes? Unless the HC is simply going to be a figure head (Fassel) then I can't see Spagnoulo coming to the Skins unless his ideas are similar to Blache's.

Zorn worked under Mike Holgrom, who is famous for running the west coast offense, so I don't really see any problems there. Personally I don't understand the desire to interview Spagnoulo, he looks like a poor mans Gregg Williams to me.

Re: Zorn becomes SKINS new OC.

As far as I'm concerned, we get a veteran QB with some experience with the west coast offense.

I wouldn't be surprised if Zorn brings in someone completely new or lobbies for a late round draft pick to groom as the backup under his tutelage.

Re: Zorn becomes SKINS new OC.

I know Zorn worked under Holmgren but now we are running a WC offense. Will Fassel be alright in it? or if we go with a defensive HC then will Spagnoulo or Meeks be alright with Blache?

Re: Zorn becomes SKINS new OC.

I think all we really know is Dan or whoever might be the HC or both wanted to bring in FOSSIL/RYAN/ZORN. We have one of the three at this point, Ryans not coming and no telling whats going to happen with the FOSSIL?

And it anyones guess who wanted what...? But we know who pays the bills, that might shed some insight.......no matter what happens the new HC is having NO say so in his staff Dan & Vinny have already takin care of that! So no matter who comes in has very little say so and will get along with who is in place already on the coaching staff (unless the HC has already been determined behind closed doors, which I don't believe). The new coach will be no more than a puppet. If things don't go well this season, I could easily see the new HC being on a very short leash (ONE YEAR), kinda like another coach we had (Marty).
