We currently have a great run stopping D and we should find a good D-lineman in the draft, but I think we really need to start rebuilding the O-Line. Personally I want an O-Line that can create running lanes for virtually anybody. Either way Jim Zorn mentioned on Total Access that we're looking for the following NFL Video Galleries. - Help at Corner - A big WR to compliment Moss and ARE - Help on the DL - Help on the OL - And he alluded to the possibility of bringing in a safety.

Anyhow, as for Nicks I was just saying that if they go OT, then I think Carl Nick is someone they should consider. But his stock is rising so he probably won't be around when they draft in round 2 (and he's not, in my opinion, worth the #21 pick). If they go OG, I like Chilo Rachal.

As far as Nicks goes, I see a lot of mock drafts have him going to the Falcons in the second round. If it's between getting a solid DL in the first round with a great OL prospect in the second then I'm all for it. However I think that the OL that can make a big impact right away will be gone by the time we pick in the second round. Thats why I'm lobbying for Albert to go in the first. The thing that suprised me though with Nicks, was his body comp. At 345 lbs I expected him to look doughy, but looking at the guy he looks relatively lean, especially for a guy that size. As far as Chilo goes, well for some reason I keep on thinking that OL that come out of USC are more pass blockers, though I wouldn't mind having Ryan Kalil. I'll have to take a closer look at him.

While all of these things are true regarding the O-Line, it is more practical to address the more exigent needs of the team. I agree that we need to add O-line depth, but not that early. I think that as a forum we can agree that we "needs" to address certain defensive issues at DLine and CB. If not that,, WR is a secondary option for the first. With the current projections(and the good combines of defensive skill players) we could easily have a James Hardy or Limas Sweed fall to us at #21. I would not like that, but if JIm Zorn needs one of those guys to help his experiment happen, then Im all for it. Quote:

DRC is a special athlete at the CB position, and since he went to a small school so he is naturally being slept on. If he is this good now and can play against top ranked seniors and can out-perform them at the combine, then imagine how he could develop at the next level. Quote:

"He could possibly move to ROT in the NFL but we think he fits best inside at guard, where he should quickly develop into an upper-echelon starter." However I have my own reasons for wanting him outside of possibly being a future tackle. See Joe Gibb's employed a power running game, and a while ago I was surprised to see that Joe Gibbs best backs YPC usually went from 3.8 to 4.0 ypc. Earnest Byner had 3.9 YPC during the last Super Bowl year. Riggins averaged 3.6 YPC back in 1983. Last year Portis average 3.9. Zorn on the other hand I see calling more outside runs, and thats where Albert comes in. Now from what I've seen and heard Albert has enough power to play smash mouth football, but the special thing about him is his quickness. The guy has the ability to get to the second level and hit guys in space. On top of that he's as good of a pass blocking Guard as your going to find this year so Jason Campbell will be able to sleep well at night. Albert also has the ability to pull which is great because teams knew when Thomas was healthy that most of the pulling and trap plays were going to involve him. With Albert we'll have more room to run traps and sweeps to either side since Albert has proven more then capable in terms of being a pulling Guard. Keep in mind I'm not Albert or bust, I think theres a lot of guys that we can draft that will become quality starters. However the best player available at 21 in my opinion is Albert and granted you've read this far you can see that I have my reasons. I realize he's not the sexiest pick, and I know a guy with 4.28 speed or a guy with 1,200+ recieving yards looks better then drafting a guard, but I still believe in this guy. Trust me whoever gets him will be happy they did. "If its a coincidence that two guys named "Moss" in the NFL are beasts and not related, then imagine what havoc the Cromartie's will wreak on the NFL." Note: Funny thing about Rogers-Cromartie is that until a year or two ago, he didn't know that he and Antonio were second cousins. To this day I wonder how long he's been going by the name Rogers-Cromartie. I'll admit I like him but obviously not as much as Albert.

if i had to get a defensive play i would say pick calias campbell, but if WR is what you go for in the first round i would love to get James Hardy from Indiana Univerisity. with his 6'7 height and his 4.5-4.6 speed he would be great to have for the second receiver, since Zorn wants to use Randel El as a slot receiver. so Hardy is my pick

Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
albert isn't nearly a value in the 1st, and carl nicks may be gone before the 21st pick (as the 3rd OT drafted).
mix isn't going to help us get anywhere anytime soon, and i hate the excuse that harvey is a bad fit because carter doesn't weigh 290. guess what? either you can play or you can't. gholston is lighter, yet he can do 37 reps, and it's not like we'd be the 1st or 8th or 52nd attempt at using two 270ish DEs and being successful. harvey is just a safer pick than 290lbs campbell who people overhyped because of his size. if you don't like harvey, try merling. campbell doesn't win in workouts, production, or highlight reels compared to either... that's no guarantee, but it's a pretty good hedge. dre moore may be available in the 3rd. in the 2nd, laws would be a better pick if available. nonstop motor and good skills. if DRC is there at our pick, it'd be stupid not to take him. he's shown he's a playmaker, and he's a 6'2" CB that runs 4.33 (the other cromartie ran 4.47)... that's as close as you'll get to TO or moss at the CB position. |

Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
I've only read about the Skins so far interviewing Michigan QB Chad Henne, Oregon State RB Yvenson Bernard, & University of Oregon QB Dennis Dixon. Has anybody read any other reports of who we've interviewed?
It looks like we'll pick up a QB in the later rounds again. Maybe, give Josh Johnson a shot? Dixon really only had one good season but what a season, right? |

Last year Troy Smith went from a potential top 5 pick to a second round pick and ended up being taken in the 5th or 6th round Chris Sims was projected as a late 1st early 2nd, Sims went in the 3rd round Brady Quin was a top 10 pick until draft day where he was picked around the 22nd spot. Same thing with Aaron Rogers. Patrick Ramsey was a 2nd or 3rd round pick, the Skins took him in the 1st round. With that said I really like what I've seen from Henne and if someone takes a chance to groom him he'll become a good NFL starter. If I had to bet I'd say he has a better career then Matt Ryan.

I think the Falcons would like to pull off that trade with the Giants so they can take Henne with the last pick in the first round

Never mind then. The Falcons aren't an oven their a furnace. If a QB gets thrown in there he'll be burned alive. Nevertheless that theory sounds about right. Four picks in the first two rounds would probably go a long way towards helping the Falcons rebuild.
