Re: Peyton manning cleared to play

Now this is funny and interesting, I hope the Rams get burned and left SOL.

2012 NFL Trade Rumors: Peyton Manning On Washington's Radar - Turf Show Times

Quote:
Washington might be less inclined to swap picks if they sign Manning. Miami is expected to pursue Matt Flynn of the Packers. That leaves Cleveland, Arizona and Seattle as the most quarterback needy teams. NFC West teams will be less likely to trade up with their division rivals. If Cleveland has no interest in trading up, Washington gets Manning and Miami gets Flynn, the Rams may be S.O.L. looking for a trade partner. Seattle or Arizona could then make a deal with Minnesota or Cleveland for RG3.
I just love seeing greedy teams getting burned cause they were asking for a mint in trade and then couldn't.

How crazy would it be to draft the guy who replaced Heath Shuler at Tennessee more than 15 years after the fact

Great if we actually drafted him.

Peyton Manning flexible on deal demands, sources say - ESPN

Quote:
A 2010 study of 99 players with neck injuries showed that 76 percent successfully returned to the playing field. Eight quarterbacks were part of the study, including Chris Weinke and Brad Johnson.

Weinke and Manning have been in contact with each other because their cases are similar, according to Weinke, who won a Heisman Trophy and national title at Florida State a year after a neck injury that required a fusion and total nerve regeneration.

I still would be surprised if he does sign here, but I'm 100% behind making a run at him

Interesting how Kyle wants him and Mike doesn't. I thought I heard the opposite somewhere else.

I'd be down for Peyton if he were 100% healthy, younger, and wasn't in this bootleg offense.

SS, if, If, we get PM, what WR's would we go after?

I just wonder if this happens if Reggie Wayne would not be on our radar. OR if PM would request we take a look at him.

Not saying this is what I think we should do if we get PM it would just be interesting to see if this shook out.

Reggie Wayne, Eddie Royal, Hankerson, and Moss. interesting WR core there.

I'd be surprised if he signed here, too. Why would he want to? There are a few reasons I don't think he would.

First, he's been playing at least half of his games every season in a dome on a much faster track than Fed Ex Field. Just ask Drew Brees how much easier that makes life as a QB in today's NFL. He'd have to play in a colder environment here, where's he constantly outdoors, on grass (not field turf) nonetheless, and the elements play a much bigger factor. Definitely something to consider, especially if he comes back with some diminished arm strength.

Secondly, he's in Eli's division. Last night's game hurt Peyton's chances of ever wearing the B&G. Would he want to go to a division where his baby brother is the top dog? With the young nucleus of talent on the Giants including a very dynamic receiving corps and studly pass-rush, they'll be a force for the next several years. Eli is fully in his prime now. He'll be a top 5 QB for the next half a decade I suspect. Peyton will be retired in half a decade. If Peyton cares about his own legacy, which I'm sure he does, he'll stay away from the NFC East.

Thirdly, Peyton wants to go somewhere where he can win quickly. No reason to think that's here. Given our overall lack of talent and the caliber of talent on the rosters of our division rivals, I don't see how Manning would be convinced he'd have a chance at glory in DC before his window as a player is closed (if it isn't already).

In summary, I'd be stunned if he wanted to play in DC.

Don't go crowning the Giants the team to beat for the next 5 yrs because to much happens in football to quick for that. I bet they don't evn make the playoffs next year.

I didn't say team to beat. I said a force. You know they're not even the early favorite to win the NFC next season? Today Vegas gave better odds to GB and Philly. The Giants are a mere 20-1 to repeat as NFC champs.

That said, they got to the Super Bowl despite a rash of season ending injuries. They'll be better on paper at the start of next season's training camp than they are right now.

How much are you betting becuase after the last Redskin game Vegas had the Giants at 100- 1 to win the super bowl, how did that work out for them?I agree anything can happen ...just sometimes it takes ..like 20 years.
