Re: Redskins vs Rams Postgame Thread
I am with you guys. I don't understand why coach felt like we were in field goal range. I mean yes, its possible that he COULD make it but come on - stay in the moment and be realistic. It obviously was a bad decision partly because he missed it but mainly because it was out of his range. His longest fg made was 56 yards and that was a 62 yard attempt.

Re: Redskins vs Rams Postgame Thread
i could kickoff about 50-55 yards from a tee, but the longest fg i ever made (in practice) was 40 yards. cundiff booms it 75+ yards on kickoffs, but falls several yards short on a 62 yard fg attempt.
does anyone know his longest fg made in warm-ups this season?

Morgan made a boneheaded play at the worst possible time.

Re: Redskins vs Rams Postgame Thread
Today, RGIII said the Rams game was unprofessional. And calls the Rams out for doing a lot of dirty things and taking cheap shots.

Watching it now. One of the things that stands out to me is the poor play of Tyler Polumbus when the right side is the point of attack. He gets thrown out of the way too easily, does not sustain blocks, and is a liability on pass protection half the time.

Re: Redskins vs Rams Postgame Thread
Just watched the replay on NFLN, and thought about starting a new thread but I don't think any of us want to spend much more time dissecting this game. Gotta make a few observations.
Offense Polumbus is garbage. I realize Chris Long is very good, but Polumbus' effort is questionable and he regularly gets lost on blocking assignments or is just too slow getting there. There were at least a few instances where Polumbus just quit mid-play. He's got no business being on the field and we should be looking for another RT. Run blocking is pretty consistent (apart from Polumbus) and the Rams do have a solid d line and LB corp. Unfortunately, until we get a RT who can consistently block a defender the ground attack cannot dominate and RGIII won't be comfortable in the pocket. Fred Davis is a better blocker than Polumbus btw...no joke. Niles Paul has no business being on the field at this point, and it's arguable whether he should be an active player. He cannot block...anyone. On RGIII's first running TD Paul wasn't even close to getting a block on Finnegan. He held him and we're lucky it wasn't called. Paul couldn't block anyone, though luckily we didn't ask him to much. He's also a lousy pass-catching TE at this point. On the (only) pass I saw him catch in the 1st half he was indecisive and slow to get off his heels. All two TE sets should be Davis and Paulsen, and honestly we'd be better off putting Paul on the practice squad and bringing Cooley back. RGIII is the offense. His pick happened because Polumbus hardly slowed Long down and RGIII didn't have anywhere to run, so he should have taken the sack. RGIII did stare his target (Davis I think) down, which pulled Finnegan off Moss for the INT. Had Polumbus done anything on this play RGIII would probably have seen Moss and turned it into a nice downfield play. Finally, Morgan was losing his cool by the start of the 4th quarter. He's got the physical ability, but his head isn't right to be a starter. Defense Lotus is correct, the d line didn't show up for this one. Bradford got the ball out quickly most of the time but there wasn't any pressure to begin with. Still...we could have one this game if Haslett knew what he was doing. We needed to be out of zone coverage half-way through the 1st quarter. Tight man with a safety hovering over the Welker clone. Is it possible for Haslett to get his act together? Perry Riley isn't making an impact, and may be a liability. I'm not sure he would start anywhere else. Rob Jackson is good enough to start if he wouldn't take plays off. I think the way to go is constant rotation between Jackson and Wilson, and if Jackson still takes plays off I'd bench him for good (just a backup). I liked how Mike took responsibility for the special teams fail, gotta respect that.

Re: Redskins vs Rams Postgame Thread
Then why did we have far better pass rush against the Saints while holding man coverage nearly all game?

I wouldn't call 31 points stopping anyone. Josh Wilson, Carriker, and Orakpo were in the game against the Saints and they have nobody who is at the speed of Amendola in their WR core. Yeah, we can coat it that Bree's had a suspect game and we limited his completions, etc. Our scheme against the Saints was almost identical to the one we ran against the Rams. A few more Man coverages, but that's because of one reason....... Rams WR's are superior in speed to our DB's which the Saints are not. I would of preferred to see more of Crawford in the game vs the Rams because even though he is young and new to the defense. He has the quickest feet of all our secondary.

Re: Redskins vs Rams Postgame Thread
Really..... im not going to debate who is quicker or faster, etc.
You guys read in to stats to much, but we all watched the same game. Our secondary never really stopped anyone in either game. That blame can be put on Haslett, Morris, front office, Head Coach, and players themselves. Not just one man.

There is Polumbus 4th worst pass blocking, allowing QB pressures But a positive, Josh Wilson 2nd best CB allowing yards again in coverage. Thats awesome.

Re: Redskins vs Rams Postgame Thread
One other thing I noticed watching the replay is Kerrigan gets respect out there! I keyed on him quite a bit and just didn't see the Rams get chippy the way they did with other guys.
The Ram (forget who) slamming on London after the whistle made you want to throw the remote at the TV...wish we had one that game.
