Unfortunately, this is the drastic move that is least unlikely to happen. Looking at the big picture, I can't bring myself to believe that the current FO can continue the path that Scot put us on. Smithers is an empty suit and Doug Williams is a figurehead.

Coaching is a major issue. Gruden didn't learn A FUCKING THING from the 9ers game...... Just get a first fucking down you douchebag!!!!!! - He's fucking fired for a repeat gutless spineless failed attempt to close a fucking game. Gone.

Had that fucking idiot Vernon Davis caught that pass, this wouldn't even have been an issue. Two HUGE drops from VD. Need more consistency. Does no good if you make a play and then fuck up 3.

I think his 25-31-1 record with the Skins speaks for itself. Also during his tenure injuries seem to be higher than league average. I think that could be more than bad luck. Could the training staff be the issue? Team doctors? Players having too much contact in practice or too little? I think the injuries are more than just coincidence. Fans that say the Redskins are on the right path with the Gruden-Cousins combo probably don't set the bar very high. |

Re: Heartbreak City: Redskins-Saints Postgame Thread
As a reminder, here's what Scot McCloughan had to say about Kirk's ceiling on 106.7 The Fan radio in May of this year:
"His ceiling is where it's at right now," McCloughan told hosts Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier. “He’s a good player who has proven he can win a division and that’s hard to find -- and a chance for two years in a row to go to the playoffs. That’s what you’re looking for.” It’s what the Redskins have -- and yet no offer has come close to getting a deal done. But the reasons why also can be found in McCloughan’s comments, reiterating points he made when he was still in charge. The Redskins need to make sure they can afford players at other positions, too. That’s something even coach Jay Gruden has mentioned in the past as well. It’s always been central to the issue. "Everyone says it’s the most important position on the field," McCloughan said. “I understand he touches the ball every snap, but it’s the guys around him. If you’re paying the quarterback, then you’re losing an offensive lineman, you’re going to lose the defensive lineman, you’re going to lose the corner. With the cap, you can’t afford it."

Davis injured his right hand shortly before he dropped that high pass.

Agreed. I'm tired of the constant merry-go-round of coaches. Gruden hasn't been the worst coach we've had. He's probably had more success in the short term than any of our other coaches not named Joe Gibbs. This season, in my opinion, is all on Bruce Allen. He is the one who needs to be fired. Scot McCloughan needs to be rehired and given full control over player and coaching personnel. He's a true football guy, and a true football guy would've probably had the team better prepared for the rash of injuries we sustained (and still sustaining) this year. I better football guy would've seen value in keeping at least one of two 1000 yard receivers on the team.

Exactly. They talk about Jerry Jones possibly having to put the Cowboys up for sell because of him being a detriment to the league. I am hoping Dan Snyder becomes outspokenly in favor of Jones that he gets in the cross-hairs as well, lol! At least puts Bruce Allen out there as a sacrifice!

I don't think Allen is going anywhere. He's the perfect guy for Snyder and will probably work here as long as he wants. Think about the last time you've heard a peep out of Snyder? I can't even remember when he's actually talked to anyone. Allen is Synder's henchman.

Re: Heartbreak City: Redskins-Saints Postgame Thread
Again, the game should never have come down to overtime. You let a team go 80 yards in 4 plays in like 5 seconds. There really is no excuse for that. It's a total breakdown of coaching and execution.

Re: Heartbreak City: Redskins-Saints Postgame Thread
Bruce Allen is to Dan Snyder what Roger Goodell is to all the owners. He'll probably get a raise.
I'd love for Doug Williams to be the GM and let him make the call on Gruden and all the coaches. And to sit with Cousins and figure this shit out. Too bad Allen is Synders loverboy. Its not like Gruden is some young new coach, he's been here a few years now and in the NFL for a while. I rememeber Bengals fans being glad he left due to similar issues in playcalling. I want a defensive head coach that hires a young up and coming OC. Obviously he'd want his own DC too, so Manusky would be gone by default. I get not wanting constant change. But not making a change in this situation only for the sake of not making change isn't a good idea imho

Deangelo Hall grade from PFF yesterday:
S DeAngelo Hall, 24.6 overall grade Hall’s day was about as bad as it gets for a safety. He missed three of his eight tackle attempts and allowed all four of his targets to be completed for 67 yards and a touchdown 24.6 ? FFS, why is he on the field?
