Re: 2026 Commanders Draft Results

Allen is all time leading rusher at Penn St. 5'11" and 216 lbs. Supposed to be physical with great vision and feel for blocks. Strong, tough, and has quick feet. Imagine he'll do well with good rush blocking for time of possession and pounding the rock.

I could not believe that he was the all time leading rusher in Penn St history. They have had so many great backs.

Agree. Was thinking it was Ki Jana Carter who was an absolute baller back in the day. I could see Allen having a solid pro career. Like this pick honestly especially with the rd taken.

Not sure I get the QB pick, but I guess there were no other guys they liked enough. I'd like to have seen a S, CB, TE or even another WR, but I guess AP sees something in the kid.

I think it is just a need for practice squad. Hard to convince an udfa to sign knowing they won’t see the field from the side line so force them by drafting him

Seems like a waste of a pick to me -- we have Mariota and then anything after him is irrelevant as the season will be over at that point, and this guy has the feel of a camp body. I'd rather go find even a kicker or take a flyer on some other position of need.

Feel the center drafted in the 6th rd Matt Gublin was good value. 3 year starter known for being a good pass blocker. Reportedly, he had a 4th rd grade. Hope this kid shows out.

Appears our draft was rated very well...

I think it was a solid draft on paper. We'll see how they pan out.

I'd agree, with the caveat that they didn't reach for need, even after losing out on players they clearly wanted (Hecht?) and I'd suggest the C and QB picks are developmental as a result. I'm warming to the Allen pick, as although the RB room looks crowded right now, he could be a good compliment to Bill (assuming he isn't usurped). Thunder and lightning?

Really liked the Gulbin pick in the 6th round. I think he competes with Allegretti to start Day 1. For what it’s worth PFF had him graded as the 2nd best C in college.

Re: 2026 Commanders Draft Results

The draft reviews seem too uncertain. I’ve seen reviews saying we got the best value and others putting us in bottom third. I saw one that had the panthers next to last (above SF) but the one two posts above had them at second best. It will be a while before we know if any of that goes instant feedback is remotely accurate.

I am looking forward to Styles - crazy good athlete - and see what he can do.

That fits. I counted 10 different players mocked at 7 which is a crazy amount of players for that spot. In reviews of Williams I have seen day 1 starter to a project. IMO still need wr I would like to sign Jauan and be done with it instead of waiting until august first 49ers to release Aiyuk

Don't they have to release him before that? His guarantees have been voided, but isn't he due a roster bonus after 1st June? If this drags on into camp don't they have to pay him salary? Admittedly he'd likely not attend, but if he did and got turned away, would they not still owe him? It feels like they will certainly freeze him out TA and salary wise until 1st June at least, but then it becomes law of diminishing returns (or diminishing punishment) and the principle will start costing them more than just being done with the whole thing.

I don't see Jennings offering anything we don't already have in the WR room, and given Aiyuk isn't coming back, the 49ers not re-signing him and drafting Stribling, I question his value to anyone now. While we'd likely have a better WR room with Aiyuk (assuming he's healthy and not a cancer) I can't see them making a move for anyone else now, barring injuries.

They can utilize a post June 1st designation which allows them to manage the dead cap hit more to advantage the team. I don't know if they will but they could do that and then potentially not release him until August 1st. They have no reason to help a team in conference by releasing him sooner, but I would also think the optics of being petty would be a red flag. I wouldn't be surprised if they do a post June 1st and then release him on June 2nd. It benefits team and then allows him to move on. Like you said they don't have an incentive to hold him so realistically he will be released close to June 1. If they wanted to stoop to Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen pettiness however...

Allen will be starting at some point, probably sooner than later.
