Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
albert isn't nearly a value in the 1st, and carl nicks may be gone before the 21st pick (as the 3rd OT drafted).
mix isn't going to help us get anywhere anytime soon, and i hate the excuse that harvey is a bad fit because carter doesn't weigh 290. guess what? either you can play or you can't. gholston is lighter, yet he can do 37 reps, and it's not like we'd be the 1st or 8th or 52nd attempt at using two 270ish DEs and being successful. harvey is just a safer pick than 290lbs campbell who people overhyped because of his size. if you don't like harvey, try merling. campbell doesn't win in workouts, production, or highlight reels compared to either... that's no guarantee, but it's a pretty good hedge. dre moore may be available in the 3rd. in the 2nd, laws would be a better pick if available. nonstop motor and good skills. if DRC is there at our pick, it'd be stupid not to take him. he's shown he's a playmaker, and he's a 6'2" CB that runs 4.33 (the other cromartie ran 4.47)... that's as close as you'll get to TO or moss at the CB position. |

Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
I've only read about the Skins so far interviewing Michigan QB Chad Henne, Oregon State RB Yvenson Bernard, & University of Oregon QB Dennis Dixon. Has anybody read any other reports of who we've interviewed?
It looks like we'll pick up a QB in the later rounds again. Maybe, give Josh Johnson a shot? Dixon really only had one good season but what a season, right? |

Last year Troy Smith went from a potential top 5 pick to a second round pick and ended up being taken in the 5th or 6th round Chris Sims was projected as a late 1st early 2nd, Sims went in the 3rd round Brady Quin was a top 10 pick until draft day where he was picked around the 22nd spot. Same thing with Aaron Rogers. Patrick Ramsey was a 2nd or 3rd round pick, the Skins took him in the 1st round. With that said I really like what I've seen from Henne and if someone takes a chance to groom him he'll become a good NFL starter. If I had to bet I'd say he has a better career then Matt Ryan.

I think the Falcons would like to pull off that trade with the Giants so they can take Henne with the last pick in the first round

Never mind then. The Falcons aren't an oven their a furnace. If a QB gets thrown in there he'll be burned alive. Nevertheless that theory sounds about right. Four picks in the first two rounds would probably go a long way towards helping the Falcons rebuild.

Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
that would suck for henne. i do believe he probably has a better shot as an NFL starter than the other QBs this year, but not if he's a falcon.
if you're team isn't in place (like the steelers or pats were) a rookie QB probably isn't going to be able to save you. especially if you have no patience. manning had a horrible season as a rookie, but he didn't have 4 coaching changes like these 4-12 teams drafting QBs tend to have, and the stability made it easy to build up around him. if you're not ready for a rookie QB, or committed to building around him with patience, there's nearly a 100% chance of failure, and it happens all the time :/. with us, campbell had a line, a playoff capable team (good D, at least 1 WR, RB, FB, TE) so all he has to do is play his part well and not worry about the rest... plus he seems to deal with pressure pretty well anyways. |

1.Quentin Groves DE
2.Branden Albert/Roy Schuening OG *However if we haven't drafted a receiver in FA by the Draft we should draft either Limas Sweed or James Hardy #1 or #2. |

Q Groves would be my pick only if DRC wasn't there for us

Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
Wow, check this out. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft...odd&id=3270327 (Don't worry about the Insider label, this time around ESPN is giving this story away for free)
21. Washington Redskins -- Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State Record: 9-7 | Needs: WR, S, DE, OT, CB Previous mock selection: Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson The Redskins' top priority is adding a playmaking receiver to the roster. There projects to be a run of wide receivers in the bottom half of the first round, so the Redskins should get involved here before they get shut out. Thomas might not have the ideal size Washington is looking for, but he's a well-built wide out with strong hands and excellent run-after-catch ability. YouTube - Devin Thomas Highlights 2007-08

I don't think any WR is worth being selected in the first round

Also, am I the only one that wants Jerry Jones to draft Darren McFadden? Facing Reggie Bush, I mean McFadden twice a year would be a dream in my opinon.

Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
rachel won't be there by our second pick. i'd still prefer T laws there if he's available.
mcfadden isn't a complete running back, but he'll transition a little better to the nfl, i believe. |
